Drivetrain Sticky Cravenspeed Dipstick
Sticky Cravenspeed Dipstick
I have an 09 S, and everybody talks about the huge changes between 1gen and 2gen, but one thing stays the same: the dipsticks are so cryptic and hard to read, esp when the oil is clean. So in my quest to find a dipstick that a half-blind Yankee can read, I bought a Cravenspeed dipstick from MossMini.
Nice unit, and I can easily discern the oil level now, but there's one issue: it seems to expand a bit around the top, making it very very tight and very very difficult to remove. I've tried coating the two rubber O-rings with oil to no avail, and a friend of mine suggested trying to widen the dipstick shaft opening a little, but I'd rather not do that lest my dealer accuse me of tampering or whatnot.
any suggestions are welcome, maybe lithium grease? anti-seize? I've thought about taking off the 2 rubber O-rings to see if that helps. thanks

Hey I have this problem too. HAHA!
First time I tried to take it out, and it was semi-stuck I thought what if this thing breaks....then I'm gonna be screwed and ticked off.
Anyone else have this problem?

I got a call from a Cravenspeed rep yesterday and he said putting oil on it is about the only thing one can do, other than being careful--grab the stick's shaft, then twist the dipstick head slowly to loosen it, that seems to work.
Nice to have a tight fit, but....
