Drivetrain Randy, Any Dyno Results yet for the Alta Exhaust?
I have been testing this system, and have some concerns that are currently being addressed. As Alta is working with me on thse, I'd rather just wait until the final production unit is ready, then do the evaluation. I do have pics, track results and numbers, but it isn't the finished version quite yet, so again, I'll hold off until it is ready to go.
Thanks for your patience! It is part of the process...

Randy is still working with ALTA on finishing up the production design, so it is not quite ready for purchase. Have patience; from what he's told me so far, the system looks to be very promising!
>>Any news here?
>>Has anybody purchased one?
>>I'm considering this system for my car and I think it is available.
>>I would like to hear it and get some impressions before making a final decision.
>>Thanx.
I installed one two days ago. Nice looking and sounding system. Someone who heard mine and another friend's with a Magnaflow thaough the Magnaflow was louder. I think it is plenty loud for normal, non-track driving.
The install wasn't bad- follow Randy's online instructions. The worst part is getting the stock sytem's hanger brackets with nubs off of the rubber hangers. I'm glad my driveway is .3 mile long; the language that those nubs elicited was not suitable for the ears of my neighbors' kids. Fortunately, the hangers on the Alta do not have nubs and slide right on.
You should get bolts for the header to exhasut connection- they were not provided and the bolts on my stock system are attached to the pipe so I could not use them. The bolts and gasket for the connection between the two sections of the exhaust were provided.
I had to do some adjusting to get the tail pipe straight and l had to cut out sections of the aluminum battery tray cover near the corner by the muffler pipe bend and where the tips come out. It is easy to do with snips and a file to dull the edges.
The rear section and the tips seem to hang just a tad lower- I don't know if that is from the position of the welded hangers on the system or from my futzing with the rubber hangers in getting the old brackets off.
I like it! No dyno info but it seems to help performance. I'm sure it will be more noticeable with the pulley, ECU, and I now have the throaty growl from the new exhaust in the rear and the whine of the supercharger from the Ata intake system up front.

PMC,
I actually have had the same issues with the unit hanging too low, and it is one of the things we are trying to resolve before it will be available through Webb Motrsports - for now, if you don't mind the couple issues I have with the system, it is available as is through Sayther, Out Motring and Alta directly. Until I have some resolution on this and one other issue, I won't be selling it.

Can somone please provide full pictures of this system? i would like to see how different it really is from the NRP.
They look the same to me. I am concerned that somone (not Randy) is pulling a Miltec vs London Stainless on us.
I am interested in the system
Thanks

It is different, but I believe it is made by NRP. Nobody will confirm that though.
Here are the differences:
The joint is flanged with a gasket instead of slip jointed.
The system is larger diameter tubing.
The tip is totally different.
Hope that helps!

I thought the NRP tubing was 2.5" - does this mean the alta is wider than 2.5"?

Randy,
I am confused, in one thread you said it was NOT made by NRP and in this one you say it is NRP. Will Alta not tell you what you are selling? I dont get it. Which is it? Is it the NRP or not or did Alta put some flanges on it and call it their own.
Have you tested both systems, the NRP (mini-mania) and ALta NRP?
The pics from the ALTA site and the Mini Mania site look exact with the exception of the flanges but then again the ALTA site doesn't show a full picture. How convenient.

I can only dyno so many systems at a time! We've had a run lately of exhaust testing. We have tested the Milltek, are testing the UUC currently, and will test the Alta Wednesday of next week. The price is definitley $699, and it is not the NRP system nor is it built by NRP.
Hope that helps!

I have tested both, and before I got the system, Alta told me directly that it was not made by NRP. After getting it, I believe it is made by NRP - it looks very similar. There are differences between the two for sure. The tip is definitely different, the flange is an obvious change, and I will get back to you on the NRP diameter. When I had it here, I seem to remember it being 2.25", but I could always be wrong. I'll make sure to check it out and get back to you.
I will be posting the eval shortly.

Randy,
I will check the diameter on my NRP system. I might give Jon from NRP a call to find out if he is making this for Alta and let you guys know.
The system sure looks very similar in basic design. The mufflers look identical.
So far I love my NRP system. The only complaint is that the hangers were almost slipping out of the hanger bushings. I fixed that problem with some shaft collars from the hardware store.
Thanks for the great work.
