haha Yea I wasn't going for something insanely loud. My magnaflow cat-back (the one they build not a custom made one) on my 2003 base mini cooper was a little too much. I just want some grunt and room if I decide to go for a downpipe in the future. Also, the oval tip version is on a real good sale so price was a factor.

I have to duel tip and couldn't be happier. I'm sure you'll like it, it's a top quality piece. Wait till you see how much quicker your car revs between 3500 - 5000 ! You'll notice it for sure. Nice sound as well, no droning

I'm glad to here good things about the cat-back. As long it's a louder than stock I'll be happy. I'm trying to find a picture of how it's going to look on the car I've seen the alta video(yes I know that the car in the video is the full turboback), but I'm looking for a straight shot of the back not an angle.

There are a few pictures on Nam

You will have to do a search but there are a few pictures on this forum. The oval tip is cool and you will like the sound if you are looking for something slightly louder than stock

Take a read of my review in the latest issue of Alliance!

It's a great sounding exhaust with about the same amplitude as the JCW dealer-installed exhaust.

I have the R53 version of the Alta catback and I love it. It has a nice deep note and doesn't drone at highway speeds. In other words, not too loud, not too quiet, jusssssst right.

I have the dual tip from alta on my R56, and I am very happy with it. There is a nice deap sound that reminds me of a BMW. Sometimes on a nice cool night Ill roll down the windows and turn off the sterio and just play with the throttle in 3rd

Thanks guys n gals on the kind words and the business! It is still my favorite for the R56.

I will be installing it (along with the DP) on my new 09 JCW ASAP. (Likely this week to give new and accurate dyno numbers for the JCW cars.)

Thanks again folks!

I just installed

an Alta cat back. I purchased the dual tip stealth version. Ryephile did a great review in the Alliance Mag. In fact, I am in complete agreement with most of the comments and observations he made. It is very well made and is very easy to install. It is my observation that it is a tad (couple of pounds) heavier than stock, but the weight is in the larger pipes and more substantial resonator. The fit is as good as you can make it. By this I mean the sections can be turned to fine tune the fit, but this part requires some patience if you don't have another set of eyes. Lots of back and forth under the car to check out the proper alignment. Ryan (Ryephile) had issues with cutting the bracket which I didn't. If you don't have a body kit, there is no need to do this. The slip fit connection to the stock system allows a ton of adjustment. I cut the exhaust in place with a Sawzall and a new blade. See picture of how I supported the exhaust for the cut. I also used the creeper to keep from draging the exhaust on the ground during the install. Also included is a pic of the final product. Yes the car is very dirty. Sorry.
The sound is a great, high quality exhast note. I personally wouldn't want it louder. Driving the car is now much more enjoyable. Tame (but not too tame) while cruising and real aggresive at wot.
Good job Alta!

I had my oval tip catback installed tonight by a local shop and it's really not loud at all. There is also absolutely no drone at all! It gives a very slight growl on acceleration. We've had drizzle here most of the day so I couldn't wind the car up to see how it sounds at WOT. I'm very happy with it and recommend it highly!

I know a lot of you are going to give me grief about having a shop install it but I just can't get under a car that's on jack stands. The thought of it terrifies me...

We offer all of the systems in both polished and black. In some cases one might take longer than the other to receive or ship, but both are available. If there is any issue or concern PLEASE let me know!

Thank you again folks!

That also has the downpipe on it haha. It's alright I can wait. Thanks for your help! I've pretty much have seen every video on youtube. The only video that had the cat-back was matty128(if that is the correct alias on here) and that video has been erased.
