Drivetrain Noisemaker delete from DoS

Aaah:
$30 to block off the noisemaker:
http://defendersofspeed.com/store/pr...p?id_product=7
vs:
$234 to suck hot air into your engine?
http://www.altaminiperformance.com/p...-Intake-System
Not sure I follow the logic there.

I have it installed on my 07 JCW and works as it should. My noise maker was more of a noise rattle and in the way so that made quick works of things. I also run my JCW with M7 super ags intake and performance plus mileage is up (on the intake side of things).

I don't know what are kingbc plans but if he is planning on installing the intake, he don't need that piece.
Also you can block the noise maker tube going to your local hardware shop and inventing something and probably you will see the same .25-0.50 psi increase without spending $30 plus shipping!

I think $30 is a reasonable price for a non Home Depot mod...
Seriously though, I dont think you'll get an increase of any pressure unless the noise maker expands under pressure. You will however get a faster buildup of pressure by removing the volume post turbo. (see also slow pressure buildup with oversized intercoolers).
It's probably worth $30 to reduce the volume in my opinion

SuwaneeM3 nailed it. If you intstall the noisemaker delete, you're getting faster pressure buildup. This means that you have more available pressure when accelerating - especially during launch.
Because you're not filling the noisemaker hose and the noisemaker itself, you're improving acceleration and making your hose routing more efficient all while taking some baggage out of your engine bay.
The noisemaker and factory airbox has to go for the new toy that we're releasing in late February '09 to fit in the engine bay anyway.

The recession put a damper on the product, but keep your eyes open for more info at AMVIV.
For those in the know, let's be nice and not spill the beans. This labor of love provided yet another challenge for DoS. I'll make an announcement before driving out to Las Vegas this year.

$1.00 Noisemaker Delete!
This is what I used to plug the hole in the noisemaker opening, 1" PVC cap, it slides in very snug if you put the open end pointed out.
$1 at Home Depot and a decent helping of GOOP Automotive Sealant. Been on for 6 months and I checked it yesterday, its solid as a rock and not going anywhere.

So is the loud high pitched buzzing noise I hear in the cabin when cruising from the noise maker? Nothing is wrong with my car. I have put 40k on it and the buzzing noise has been there since day one. I remember when I picked up the car and drove it home I immediately noticed this buzzing noise and figured it was just how MINIs are.
