those with one ball

I got my MCS about a month ago and love it.I want to do the one ball mod but i got a little delima. I dont think i found a thread on this but i may be wrong. How is the drone with the one ball mod in the car? I dont really mind it being loud outside but i cant stand the drone of the exhaust inside the car especially when decelerating. How loud is it inside of the cabin? What can you compare it to

thanks!!

One ball doesn't buy you any significant power, so sound and weight reduction is pretty much the main reason. As for me, I've only noticed a strong burble when I lift, which is the very reason I did the mod.

I had the 1-ball before before I switched to IE cat-back and I can tell you that you will feel a difference like having a deeper lung. There are so many cars that made good dyno numbers with 1-ball and even higher than cars with cat-back at times. I've seen it myself during our RMW tuning in Seattle last June. Search the thread and you will learn that there are many happy NAMers that went this route.
Why did I changed to IE? My 1-ball had a leak due to bad clamp that also created mis-alignment. I also wanted my car to bark a bit more without being annoying and Ireland Engineering exhaust was just what I needed. If I were to do it again, I will go 1-ball and RMW street header. It's more money but better gain and louder sounding exhaust.

i find the noise to be just perfect..there's hardly any droning especially when you have some music on..when flooring it or revving it..it gives a nice deeper tone..
it is raspy sometimes..
i really do find the tone and note of the exhaust perfect...
but look up on youtube and type in one ball mod mini cooper or mcs..play around with the words and a couple should show up..they're pretty close to the actual sound..
but i was a bit on the edge on getting it..but once i got it..mm i love it..definitely worth the money..cheap mod too.

and also..i dunno if your engine noise is a little loud..but mines gotten louder since i bought it about a year and a half ago
sometimes i hear more engine noise than exhaust noise and sometimes the opposite

gar23- where are you? If you're anywhere near a local club, odds are that someone will have a car you can hear....

No drone... Not loud in car at all... When you open windows you can definitely hear it but when windows closed, it is barely noticeable.

Do it, you can't beat it for the $$ and it will be a great first mod... I was going to upgrade exhausts but I am very happy with the one ball mod so i am keeping that cash for now...

One word of advise, WELD don't clamp... Good luck...

BTW: plenty of videos on youtube.com of how the one ball sounds...

That was pretty crass, wasn't it? I'm entitled to make one tasteless remark per year. I'm good for a year now.

there is no drone w/ the 1-ball.

Header plus 1-ball is a very nice system

Another vote for no drone. I actually think my car is quieter on the freeway with the one-ball mod.

I noticed only a little increase in noise. It was a good increase. It was the best 75 bucks I have spent in awhile. Go for it, you will enjoy. There are some pics in my gallery.

Now I must say I only did this to hold me off until I get a better exhaust

I second that.

That is the route I took. Now I am saving up the money for the Alta Stealth Exhaust.

Hey! how are the tires holding up (if you still have them)
I have had the one-ball for a few months, and it was nice to have a quiet exhaust after droving to all of the MTTS events. Now that winter is here, I am going to go with a custom exhaust made up of borla components (thanks to AstroBlackS)
definetly a difference in tone, but it does not burble enough for me

actually, you have none . this guy runs straight-out-the-header... you dont belong here.

As for the one-ball, I found it to be the best option, cheap, adds a little umph, and sounds great. yeah you will hear a little in the cabin, but not nearly as much as aftermarket exhausts. and the burble is achieved without having to spent hundreds of dollars. my suggestion is to have the shop weld on some cool tips when you get yours done, this way you have a new look to boot! I had the whole set-up (pass resonator dropped and new tips cost and install) done for only 40 buck! How can you beat that?

Yeah, the one ball works really well, no droning, and a nice boost in sound. I go out of my way to drive through tunnels. I turn down the radio, lower the windows and slip it in second gear, good stuff.

I am considering One-Balling my MCS as well...until I have enough money for this bad boy:
http://www.powertone.com/exhaustsystems/index.html

the ex-M7 exhaust. Youtube M7 and Powertone exhaust, there's not much videos out there but I love the note of the car. It's not raspy and sounds beautiful to my ears.
