Springs or Pulley?

hey there guys..i decided to post this on this section of the forums cause it seems to get more views

but im on the fence on which to do..
my birthday passed..( a month ago.. ) and my gf is buying me a part for my car

and i was trying to decide..on whether or not to buy TSW springs..or a 15% alta v2 pulley (currently on sale )

i would assume that i'd have to spend about the same amount of money..more or less
i dont track my car but would like that added power for highways and a bit more power for lower rpm..but then again..lowering my car wouldnt be too bad either..would make my car look much better and handle a bit better too..(and a bit of a more comfortable ride?)

wat i do have done to my car so far is pretty much just a ddm intake..
and painted r83's semi black..
i will be tho..painting my arches in the near future

so all opinions and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated..
(and im gonna assume right now that most of you guys will say pulley? )

I would go for the pulley first And she seems like a cool girl, knows what to buy, parts for your car My wife now gets me gift certificates at the local Custom Mini Shop for Birthdays and Christmas.

PULLEY without a doubt. It makes a huge difference and the mini is already a pretty good handling car...but improvements can always be made further along the way

+1 for the pulley, if not much track time and long time til the next upgrade, go for the 17% and the Napa 060535 belt

Springs... but, I am biased in favor of upgrading your suspension before you add power, period.

Not sure how much the TSW's lower? But if it's close to a inch you may have to install rear control arms to adj. your camber. Some of the other guy's may have some better info. on that. But I know when other people have done it they had to add them Oh BTW, not sure what year your car is, but I think 05 and later were able to have small adj. with the OEM rear control arms

The TSW springs will lower the rear about 7/8 of an inch. If the MINI was built after Jan 2005 then it should have the small camber adjustments if not or not enough you can get the TSW Rear Adjustable Control Arms to match the springs. Since he got both out of the GF this time, maybe she will get him the Arms for X-Mas

Once you get the springs in give it a tank of gas to see where the rear camber sets up. If it's way off you will need to get it to an alignment shop for a 4 wheel alignment. If you are over 200 pounds I would sit in the MINI for the alignment so the rear runs flatter with with you driving, yes 200 pounds can change things back there. The computers on the newer racks tell the mech what, where and how much. Ask around for a good shop if you don't have one lined up, plan on spending about $100.00.

when you lower the mini the wheels look like this / \ that's negative camber. you may need lower control arms to correct too much negative camber. if so, i have the "new" helix version and have had no problems.

so hm..is it possible to just use my stock control arms? as JIMINNI said?
would it be enough to make my camber neither positive or negative?

The OEM settings are a little neg, so you should be able to pull out too much neg camber that you find in the rear with the OEM arms.

Good call on the TSW springs!

Mine came in today from TSW, were shipped same day and made it to Canada in 2 days

I have never had shipping so fast in my life from an online supplier.

it depends on the drop. after an inch and a half drop, my rear camber was -3.0 i dont think the oem control arms are gonna do the job here. the tsw drop is less and you could be fine.
