Engine damper problems

Hi!!
I had bought the engine damper (http://www.txwerks.com/servlet/Detail?no=18) a while back... and though after reading through some forums I realized that I had loosened the damper causing the damper not to do what its supposed to do! So i unscrewed the threads out and tighten up an movement of the engine.

Now this is what happened.. (see pic). This of course was after i went the to track one time.

Why is this happening? Has anyone else has had this problem?

Please note.. i am on my 2nd motor mount as well. Suggestions? I'm going to post Please note.. the damper is not that tight.!

Thanks for any info.

Looks like you adjusted the length a bit to long.

Did you miss a shift? Might have caused a violent move in the engine.

I'd also recommend that you email TSW about the issue.

That's happening to me also, not as drastic though. Mine is just sufficient enough to start rubbing against the damper body every so often (twice during the past six months or so) I usually just bend it back to straight and forget about it, no big deal for me. I'll eventually just get a new bracket after it is fatigued enough.

All TSW will tell you is that you messed up the install...

I had the same thing happen to me and was told I didn't install it perpendicular, which was untrue. Thanks for the concern???

It is a concern of mine to know how my suppliers deal with customer service issues. Just had to ask for the details and will make note of it.
Thanks Dustin

Nope.. no shift missing.. no poping of clutch no engadging clutch while engine turning off etc... none of that. Lilke i said.. i did take it to the track... im not that gentle at the track i will say that.

Its not too long. i didnt have to tighten that much.

ok... you cant ask for anything more than this...
Hello Terry,

We had a few MiNI’s with higher horsepower mods (like yours) bending the front bracket in an “S” (like your picture), so we are now shipping a beefed up front bracket. We sent several of the new brackets out to our customers with the bent bracket and it solved the problem. I will be happy to send you a new bracket for free – just email me back your shipping address and I can get it out tomorrow.

BTW – thanks for the picture, it really helps us.

Regards,

Jeff Bibbee

We discussed it last year...He had no doubt in his mind that a 205+whp MINI could not bend his damper frame.

The damper is long gone anyways...

You might want to consider getting the poly engine mount bushings in addition to these dampers.

I bent mine waaay back and never got a "new beefer bracket" and jeff was aware of it. i just gave up the fact i had $125 taken from me for something that does nothing but gives me more headaches than the money i lost was worth. Dont get me wrong...Jeff def tried helping me with the damper but it was useless b/c the damper he used was garbage to begin with.

Hence the reason the damper was redesigned...

FWIW, I was running the original design on the track car up until just a few weeks ago with nary a problem - Dr. Mike still has the prototype on his car after 4 years, with no issues, same performance.

I wouldnt say redesigned being it was a NRG damper to start with. So now you guys decided to make your own this time and alot of us who were having problems were stuck with the crappy first one and subjected to buying your newer style if we wanted it to work how it should of to begin with. If a product has a design flaw and you make a better version of it you should take the old ones back and swap them for the new ones. I just kept getting stuck with the old one b/c your newer version wasnt out by the time i gave up trying to fix it, what...5 or 6 times

Like i said...Your def a great guy jeff but this mount is a POS and the brackets are horrible.

We've replaced all the failed originals, period. If you contacted us, we sent it.

And, you're one of 2 people that have had continuing problems. We bent over backwards to try and help you... 2 replaced dampers, countless internals and at least one replacement bracket...
