Drivetrain Friday......M7...... carbon Fiber Hood....Done
I think that it is an exceptional hood, but I believe that for the price it could have come with a carbon scoop. Or even already had it molded with the scoop to make it look flush. I am in no way saying that I do not like the hood. Great job on the hood.
My two cents.
Thanks,
My two cents.
Thanks,
Hood looks great Peter and I can imagine it was not fun making the first few. I understand why you made the hood so the stock scoop would mount on it but i must agree it would be great to see a one piece no seam which included the air inlet,I think it would look awsome and might even save another pound or two asuming it is thicker in that area for mounting of the stock scoop.Of course you may have to weigh the demand for this type of hood but i think most Mini owners would prefer this look. Once again, you certainly did an outstanding job on the hood...sure is pretty,I want one!
Sure, why not run the car's oem hood scoop just for a touch of color.
Hood should have molded in scoop period! That doesn't change the fact that it look's sweet though. I can totally get over the fact that the hood scoop is not included if it fits perectly has all the holes in the right place etc.. Sorry for my being skeptical but my experience with CF and Fiberglass has been less than perfect as is all the other friends of mine. Hopefully these challenges have been overcome and I look forward to seeing posts from those who have them soon!!

Howdy.....
Now if the hood had a molded in scoop it would be soo much harder to make, and the price would reflect that....
I looked at the molded in look, and frankly thought a seperate scoop looked better.
As soon as the final hood is on my car I get some more cool images........
And tomorrow I will have a new CF product
on the car I will take some pic's and shock the pants of the
purist
can you say light weight........

That's really really great Peter,
I believe you are soooo right in pursuing the goal of lighter is better. I can tell an immense difference in my normally aspirated MC when I take someone else or especially with an extra two people (plus me) in the car. Huge difference in performance.
Can anyone answer this question: Can carbon fiber hoods be painted to match the body color?

Thanks goin440. I want one and will need to save up first. Perhaps most will want to keep it the natural CF color, and I might too if it matched my MINI better, but I have the white roof and mirrors. Although I could have the roof and mirrors painted another color and I am thinking about that. Can't wait to see what else Peter has for us.

According to the man, a lot are presold over seas (Asian or Euro... ???). But the hood has just reached production stages (they don't exist in numbers yet). I personally expect the "week" to be a "month" at least. (Nothing against M7's... speed <pun>, rather the time consumed in making the product with quality)

What would really help sales (other than having the product ready) would be a link with what the CF Bonnet looks like with a BRG, a CR, a JB, a LY, a IB, an EB, etc... INCLUDING different color tops (or a CF top)
I love CF and would consider putting it on my car, but spend 1 k without the slightest idea of how it's gonna look on my car...not very likely.
Any news?
