Regarding the blower itself, as Nitrominis said...the coating on the vanes can delaminate too. Both the teflon and the ceramic coatings fail presumably due to high IATs.

Here's a teflon coated one from a freinds car. 44K on the blower. Water pump gears were fine.... blower? Not as fine.

These vanes were black teflon coated....

On the other hand, my water pump gears are wearing but the vanes in the teflon coated S/C are perfect.
Just think all that went down into his engine. NASTY !

Believe me, he's not a happy camper. After 40+ years of automotive/ racing/ shop operations experience, he's a stickler for a properly prepped car. He takes care of his car to a concours level (not exaggerating) and it wouldn't surprise me if he took the entire engine apart next, to inspect the rings, valves, pistons head and so on.

Teflon is rather abrasive.

Well, the previous post looks like good news.

So, did anything ever come of the movie?

I jumped in and replaced my SC this weekend. I posted info at m|u at http://www.motoringunderground.com/f...ead.php?t=2519. Go to post 21. Or read the whole thread if you want.

Thanks to Charles and Supercharger Technologies (post above) for the rebuilt unit I installed. Everything is running well. Core on its way back this week.

Necrobump on ancient thread because referencing ENDYN.

My car is at 175,000 miles now and suspect I'll be needing a new s/c sometime soon and just wondering if anyone still offers off-the-shelf units for M45 with the sound ports deleted like this supplier used to do?

Their website is still up:

http://www.theoldone.com/components/...ead_modifi.htm

:

Just curious and looking at options --- would love the increase in whine + slight boost bump, but also said to slightly increase IAT as well, however I've finally acquired an Aquamist HFS3 so that's not too much of a concern for me.
