Drivetrain RMW cam on MCSa
RMW cam on MCSa
Any you MCSA dudes/dudettes running aftermarket cam on your car(RMW?)
I'm thinking of how to spend George's funny money(ya know the stimulus package)I'm gonna stimulate myself with mods!

I know!
I am trying to lure Jan in and make me warm and fuzzy!(he's prolly to bizzee)...cuz I have some money burning a hole in my mod pocket.If I get the word that this is a good move...I'm driving to MiniCorsa,tout suite for Danny to put it on!

. I haven't heard anything about Jan putting a cam on a MCSa, but if he did I can't imagine why he'd call and tell me.
It's entirely possible that the MCSa will put down lower numbers than the 6-sp, it has more drivetrain loss.
I think the issue with the MCSa was with tuning it. It was difficult to dyno or something.
Best to let Jan chime in if you heard of some specific MCSa issue. I don't follow them that closely.

P.S. There's always being the first, even with the tune issue, the head stands on it's own merits.

I saw Jan tune my car,this is how I know.I also know people like "checkers"on NAM have had the same experience.I do believe that if anyone can solve the tuning probs that the auto's have -Jan is the man.I am really close to pulling the trigger on RMW head/cam/header.All this being said I have a car that pulled 183 whp/173tq (with a bad plug and clogged intake filter!)NOW I WANT MORE.
I wonder how the Auto will react to the increased duration of the cam. Also the big Exhaust ports may decrease velocity which may also effect the auto ? I dunno just a thought. The Auto is a different beast. I would think until someone finds away to allow for manual RPM shifts in any gear that you will not get the full bennefits.
Platfrom you know I have the RMW cam in my car along with everything else. I'm supposed to take my car to Jan as soon as he gets his new shop. So he can play with it and try to find out how the ecu works on the automatics. I'll let you know if and when we find something. My numbers are low, but thats because they can't get the car to stay in one gear long enough. It wants to up shift at around 65k. on the dyno. At that rpm it get about 196whp and 175tq, but we think if he can reset the limiter to 7k or 72k it should break 200 whp easy. How are you doing, any track time lately?

I'm cool.- nothing recently,gonna try to hop on at Laguna or Infineon soon though.Jan's new shop is exciting.Keep me posted about your ride.I'm close to stepin up to a head/cam too.
Any new / revised thoughts / experience on this topic? I'm planning to have Jan tune my MCSCa in July... and considering the RMW cam. I don't care what HP my car puts down... and I know the auto shifts at about 6750, so you can't get the big HP you can get with high RPMs ... My thing is mid-range torque for the street... I want all I can get without buying a head... thoughts?
Go with a smaller pulley - 17 or 19% since you won't use the upper rpms and want the torque down low. Get the cam - it is also a huge boost in mid-range torque. If you've got the bucks, the RMW street header is also a heck of a performer as shown at the recent tune weekend here in WA.
Yeah... that's what I was thinking - cam + 17% pulley for the street... but would love confirmation that Jan's had good success with that combo on the automatic (and yeah, I know I can call Jan
)
)
Sounds like the RMW header+cam combo is the way to go after seeing what they can do on the dyno this weekend
Of course you will need to dial em in w/ a tune!!!

I've got all his stuff and it works just fine. I believe that one of these days Jan will decode the ECU on the automatics and raise the limiter and get bigger HP numbers. We have been talking for some time about this. Hopefully soon.
I also have one of Jan's tunes on my auto.
