Nology.. where should I buy them?

Hi guys. I want to buy a set of Nology Hotwires, the problem is that they don´t sell them here in Spain, adn I need to buy them online. Do you know any place where I can get them for less than 200$??. Any changes for those that have a set on you car?.

Get them if you want to, but the stock ignition system on the MINI is very good. There are a few 300-400hp MINIs running around with the stock ignition, including the stock plug wires.

As with any ignition upgrade, unless you have some reason to believe that the stock system isn't doing the job, or you've made serious modifications to the engine (like running 30 pounds of boost in a turbo), you're probably better off leaving the stock system alone.

I found a few sets on eBay in the $155-$165 range, but the seller that advertises worldwide shipping uses UPS "Worldwide Expedited" shipping, and that adds $90 to the cost.

If you know anyone in the U.S., they could probably order a set and then send them to you via a slower/cheaper shipping method, if you don't need them right away.

Thanks guys, could you please tell me what else would you buy for my JCW??

My car is a 05´JCW with:

- Alta performance Intercooler V2
- M7 Tuning 16% pulley
- Alta performance Oil Catch Can
- Alta performance Air Intake
- JCW GP Ecu Remap
- Alta performance Short shifter
- Galfer Evolution Big Brake Kit (330*30mm)
- TeamDynamics 1.0 (Black)

Some people told me to get
- 2%Crank pulley (maybe 3% or 4%)
- Water to Air Intercooler ( I don´t think I need it after having the Alta IC)
- Ecu Remap
- Schrick Camshaft
- M7 Throttle Body (Not to sure about this)
- New Header (RMW,Miltek, Supersprint)

Thanks a lot!

Unless you are trying to make a show car...

Always the best mod is to take yourself to driving school and learn how to drive with more skill.

Ignore this advice if you own and operate your own High Performance Driving school. And you are chief instructor.

Adding more goodies might be fun to look at but to make any use of the upgrades will require being able to drive well.

What is the MINI being used for?
How often do you get to drive on a closed track?
Is this for daily driving on the street?

If you were trying to do this many upgrades why start with a JCW MCS?
Why not a plain MCS? JCW comes with a warranty.

Hi Minihune, I went to a driving school ( Mercedes-Benz Driving School and Porsche Driving School) but I don´t wanna take my car to the track, I want it to last as long as possible. Even though I never took it to the track, I wanna get more performance out of it, just for fun, nothing else. I have more powerful cars at home but the MINI is different. It is for Daily Driving, anyway remember that here in Europe the Speed limit is different than in the U.S. I´m not worried about the warranty I know some people that work for BMW here in Spain. They all told me not to worry about that.

What's your budget? The items on your list range in price from ~$200 to well over $2,000. With your current mod list you would probably benefit from a header. The RMW Cam has been shown to give gains over the Schrik. A custom dyno tune would probably help quite a bit too. Water to Air is probably excessive for a street car with your mod list.

Ok Rusty so what about:

1) RMW Cam
2) Ecu Tune
3) What about RMW header??

By the way what about those 440cc Injectors, Is that something I should get??... What about gas, will I run out of it in 5 minutes.. hahaha . I´m really interested in buying them.. how much are them?

These suggestions are reasonable.

Nology wires not needed.
Larger Throttlebody not needed.
ECU retune like the RMW could be helpful but you aren't too close.
Jesus Head is expensive but could be done and at same time as RMW cam.
Quaife differential for better traction.
Colder spark plugs- IK-22

What about suspension? Any need to lower? You have JCW suspension?
What about adjustable front camber plates and lower rear adjustable control arms so you can make alignment to your advantage. Any upgraded rear sway bar?

If you consider Cross Coilovers they have built in front camber plates. Not all coilovers have the camber plates built in.

Which wheels and tires? That's usually a big plus if you get the right ones.

Good on the driving school.
Go again until they ask you to be an instructor (a good sign).

I've gone to BMW driving school 5 times and there is always more to learn.

I don't know what he charges for those 3 items. The cam and header (His new one) he has a thread about. I wanna say ~$400 + shipping for the cam. I don't know the cost on the new header, his old *Race* header/exhaust was ~$2000 IIRC, Best to call him and ask. His head would be a great investment if you have the money .

With your state of mods 440's would be way excessive. 380's should be fine, check with Jan though .

I changed my ignition wires as they were wearing through from the outside. Looked like something had been rubbing on them. I swapepd them for the JCW ignition wires. Cost something like £30/$60.

The JCW wires are the same as OEM Cooper S wires . At least here in the US they are...

Wow, that sucks. You could pickup an easy 5bhp if you had blue

Psh, I have a red tow hook, that easily makes up for the power loss...

Hehe, it's ok. I've spent enough money on my car chasing power. Don't need to spend more on blue wires (Which wouldn't match at all!).

Not unless there's something wrong with your stock setup.

Plug wires are a completely useless upgrade. If a 400 hp car can use the stock plug wires, one that makes 200 will be fine.

His point was that unless something is drastically wrong with your current wires, you're not going to see any change AT ALL in fuel economy.
