No more tuning from Jan?

I saw this in the announcements and wanted to see if I could find out a bit more about what is going on.

This will be Jan’s 1st Chicago and LAST event in the Midwest. Jan is doing his last round of local Tune events before starting his new racing contract. This will be the last time Jan will Tune a MINI in the Midwest!
Sounds like he is going to be pretty busy, does this mean no more tuning from Jan, or just not until the racing is done? I sure hope I didn't miss out.

It is true. Jan approved the announcement. I say you sign up for the Chicago party and make a roadtrip out of it!

This completes Jan's "Tune Tour" but he will still be tuning. With the remote tuning tool mentioned a few weeks ago he will be able to set up tunes remotely and allow people to get their cars tuned without him there.

This process will be slightly more time consuming for the person getting their car tuned, but the result is the same, an awesome car!

Give him a call.

He can tune S's or Non-S's. Gains I'm not sure about. I'd suspect under 10 HP.

Remember, it's not the total gain but the gains across the board that make the biggest difference. High HP in a very small range are no where near as fun as small TQ gains across the range.

I had my MC cabrio tuned by Jan. I already had an MTH tune, and Jan only added a few hp at the top end. The big difference (and what I was looking for) was more torque at the low end. An example is, modulating the throttle and clutch was really funky when driving in stop and go traffic with the AC on. Now with increased low end torque, the car is more driveable with better response and smoother power delivery.

I guess I phrased my post wrong and meant gains as far as overall improvements. I know I'm not going to get massive horse power out of it, I just want to make sure its something worthwhile for my MC, especially for the cost.

Thanks for the info. I know exactly what you are talking about with the AC! I've only got an intake and milltek exhaust (thinking about getting the header to go with later on)

As an owner of an R50 I'll have Jan tune my MINI. My goal is better low end torque for AutoX. Since there is very little outside of doing a head and or cam for well over $1500.00, the $600 for a Jan Tune will be my best investment for custom tuning that meets my AutoX needs. IMHO.
