That doesn't look too healthy

ETA. Was the cardboard section that covered it damaged in any way?

As that will pinpoint the most likely time it got damaged.

NP .

The system should have come new, undamaged. Consider though, that within a few weeks the tips will be ugly and black. If it were me I'd try to get some kind of credit from the company you got them from, and just install them anyway. It's pretty hard to keep tips looking like that for long when the system is installed on a car .

the box wasnt damaged at all, it arrived on time via UPS and still had the cardboard covers which were not damaged either.

It's an Invidia exhaust. The tips are Titanium.

Were you asking him if he could paint them, Or if they make an exhaust with black tips?

I'd say no to both. The blued titanium looks pretty badass.

1. Get your credit.
2. Take it to your bench grinder with a buffing wheel, or a die grinder with a buffing wheel, etc. That can be easily buffed out.
3. Install and forget about it.

NO, you're not being picky. You bought a NEW system right?

Contact the vendor, if he can't send you replacement tips, return the whole dam thing. Take no BS for you are the customer.

PS = I don't give a sh@t if they turn black in one day.

For the cost and hassle (Not to mention time) of having them ship that exhaust back, and ship out a new one, doesn't it make more sense to take a $75-$100 refund and just deal with the scuffed tips? You won't be able to see anything in a week anyway, the MINI runs so damn rich the tips are black in a day or two.

The tips are held on with rivets, so replacing them would be difficult.

You are not being too picky. I installed the same system on my 05MCS and the system remained "as new" the year plus that I had it. If the tips are all messed up within a few weeks, there is something wrong with your MINI! (or your driving. )

Probably a combination of things (My engine is outputting close to twice the stock HP and runs fairly rich to ensure nothing breaks, and I'm way too lazy to spend 30 minutes shining my exhaust tips every time I wash my car).

Do the tips come off?

I don't think you're being picky, they're fairly badly damaged, on a normal tip it wouldn't stand out as much, but as they're coloured they show up.

I'd speak to the manufacturer and see if they will post a new set of tips out and you post the old ones back.

Don't just keep them, that's like someone keying your door and going oh well it'll be dirty soon no-one will notice.

As I said, the tips on the Invidia exhaust are riveted on. It would be a rather time consuming and complicated process to remove and reinstall a new set of tips.

I hear ya and if the discount is big enough, sure that's an option.

I just don't think anyone should settle. New is new and Used is used. I would box up, vendor should pick up return cost and send a new.

Jhud - Whatever happened with your exhaust? Did you install or return it? If you installed it, what are your impressions?

I finally was contacted by the company who seemed sympathetic but it was a fiasco i didnt feel like dealing with. ultimately i installed the exhaust anyways and the scratches arent too noticeable unless your looking for them. I love the sound by the way and seems to give a few horseys on the mid-high end but seems a little more sluggish on low end. end result is Alamomotorsports customer service sucks, i love the invidia exhaust, and i would order it again if i had the chance. i think it was just a fluke because the company seemed very surprised.

My Invidia was also a tad scracthed up on the tips & yes there was no damage at all to the box.I feel this damage was caused by Invidia in Japan or who ever makes it for Invidia in Japan.

Mine wasn't super bad plus you can't see it once it was mounted to my car.

Nope mine are still nice & blue on the tips.I say blue because you really can't see the rest of the colors as the tips are set back kinda far under the bumper.

STill looks great & sounds wicked.
