Drivetrain NOOB-Ness Confirmed: (Mandess-Equipped?!?)
NOOB-Ness Confirmed: (Mandess-Equipped?!?)
Well...I'm a new Mini Cooper S owner. I bought a 2002 DSM Cooper S, and fell in instant love the first time I drove it, and haven't stopped smiling since
.
For the last month, I've been reading up on everything MINI, and at the risk of exposing my NOOB-ness, I came up with a couple of questions.
1) My ecu cover has a Madness-Equipped sticker on it. Having never driven any other r53; Is there any way to tell if the ECU has been reprogrammed?

2) The exhaust tone is pretty decent, I'm pretty sure that its a modded stock exhaust; but I may be wrong. What do you think. (It may be a bit hard to tell from the pics)

Oh and if anyone is selling a painted DSM rear bumber...help a brotha out,

For the ECU you can check to see where it redlines at...most if not all ecu tunes whether "canned" or custom raise the rev limiter. Stock should cut out just shy of 7000rpm's. For some reason the pics did not display for me. Congrats on the new car!
Exhaust isn't the Invidia. I have the Invidia (dual tips/blue-titanium tips). I'll try and come up with the name of the exhaust.... Check your pulley too. It might not be stock
**It looks like the quicksilver exhaust to me... is it one sided? Here's a link to help you along

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate help. The exhaust is one sided, and it does look like it may just be the quicksilver single-sided system.
And my red line (Judging by the light) on the tach is one noch before 7k

himi, congrats on owning your MCS! The fun wont stop.
staz, 200 hp from exhaust, ecu, and pulley? I guess so if you mean a supercharger reduction pulley, like 17%. At first I was thinking just a engine pulley with reduced weight and I was like, "err... seriously?"
Damn I need to get going on modifications...

You can easily look at the supercharger pulley to see if it is stock or not when you have any used MCS.
Not easy to say if the ECU has been flashed but when Jan from RMW does tuning he can usually tell.
The exhaust is a Quicksilver based on the tip but the muffler is quite rusted on the surface. Be sure to check it out. I had a quicksilver and it was stainless steel so I wonder if this one has been changed.

If it's been changed in the ECU the redline won't be reflected on the tach. You'll have to rev it up to see where it stops.
Thanks again for the info everyone.
