HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

i just put the CAI (home made style) into my car yesterday, and later on that night, the check engine light came on :(
how can i fix this problem?????? please please help me asap

You probably got oil on the MAF sensor. You can buy purpose-made cleaner at automotive stores.

...Assuming it's an oiled foam filter. I don't think the paper type filters would be as likely to cause this problem. I'd guess just wiping the inside of the inlet area before the MAF to see if it is wet or dirty would be a good indicator on this. Check the MAF sensor plug connection and wire, and remove and replug it to be sure you have a clean connection. Hopefully you were very careful with the MAF and its housing section since it can be damaged very easily.

If you're out of ideas, put the OEM housing and filter back on and see if the CEL goes away. Then you'll know whether your replacement system was the culprit. If it's still there then something else has gone awry and you should erase all evidence of tampering and take it to your MINI dealer. Hopefully it won't come to this.

^ Good catch, I kinda auto-pilot answered that one (seems to be a common thread s/p intake installation )

it's all good now... i don't know how, but the light turned off ...phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww......
