HOLLY CRAP! WHAT A RIP-OFF!!!
I ordered a 'filter stop' for a JCW air filter - that tiny little triangulated piece that hold the narrow end of the filter in place. $188.00 - and that is with a 10% discount.
This price and part was triple checked...the filter stop is no longer sold with the filter...$188.00??? The Ultimate Driving machine gets Ultimately ludicrous as time goes on!

Wow.... that's insane. I'd fab one outta something I had lying around and forget about it... BMW=Better Make it Work with the parts you have lying around... cause you can't afford new ones...
I'm not sure what that part is exactly because I've never seen a JCW airbox up close, but couldn't something be made from trimmed steel brackets or wire that will stop the filter, or, I assume hold it in place?
I would cancel the order the fab a part using ali bar stock (available at any hardware store). I have seen the part and its not worth that !! If my machine was not torn apart for remodeling, I could remake part for dirt cheap !
I should have written - I called to place the order and the parts dept called me back before placing it because they were shocked themselves. That small plastic piece about the size of my thumb cost more than a front wheel bearing???
Double sided tape works for me, about $1.85 for a small roll
BMW - Better Make it Work...
Love it!!!

Wow, I've always just had them order stuff in the past, I better start checking prices. You could've ALMOST bought an aftermarket CAI and reaped the benefits of practical engineering.

About BMWs, I was talking to the manager of a small auto shop in my area when they had a 1982 3 series on the lift once. He was amazed the car was still together, the entire exhaust system was held in with bailing wire, as was most of the front end, and there were homemade brackets, duct tape, and shotty spot welds everywhere else. The car had something like 400,000 miles on it, no rust though.
