no love for the LSD?

i dont see to many threads on the Quiafe limited slip differential. Why? as fun as the one wheel wonder burnout is, im interested in this product. Is this any good and why dont ALOT more people do this mod? junk? i would think with the kind of dollars being tossed around on minis that this would be a very popular mod. Unless leaving 1 solid black line is cool, then of course i'm Miles Davis.

most of the LSD questions in search are people trying to figure out if they have LSD and what LSD does and which LSD is better. I'M asking whether its junk or not and why more people dont get this mod?

It's not exactly inexpensive. 1200 or so for the part and labor is about the same at many shops. So unless one is doing a clutch it's not really cost effective for most.

I've done and I would again, makes a huge difference on track.

Very good equipment, very good addition, did the lighter flywheel, stage 3 Clutchmasters at the same time. Amazing difference in power delivery, but I do not do burnouts so can't help you there. Might put the stocks back on with runflats for a vid though

you can get on the power earlier and sustain more power throughout the corner not to mention your launch. so ya its definitley a good thing. When the time comes for me to do my clutch (Ie: after I do my suspension/before my next leap in power or my clutch wears out) I will be putting one in. Im still unsure if the flywheel is worth it or not but ya LSD especially the quaife is a worth while mod had one on my focus before i traded it in for my MCS. As most will recomend wait till you need to get in the transmission for other things as well. On my focus i did the Clutch/Flywheel/LSD at the same time.

As soon as I have to go in there anyway, there will be one on my car! PS: Or sooner...

His pants not what he's famous for.

I say don't wait for the clutch, go straight for the Quaife.

The Quaife was the first mod I did. Got sick and tired of lighting up the inside tire coming out of 1st or 2nd gear corners. Makes a world of difference on any tight corner. Also helps during a wet session as well, since you can get both wheels to spin you use the throttle to create understear.

there aren't a lot of threads or discussions because:
1. it wasn't developed by a NAM vendor
2. it is a no-brainer for those who have joined the 10k club

no one that i know hates it or debates its effectiveness

the quaife transforms the open diff car from one wheel drive to two wheel drive

mine has 90k miles on it with no issues - including about sixty autocross runs

quiet and reliable

worth every penny if you autocross

do the clutch while you are in there - it's only a bit more and worth the bother. not that the OEM clutches are unreliable, they aren't - but they are kinda hard to get to, so resetting the "wear clock" seems to make sense...

I don't think anyone has anything bad to say about the Quaife unit, but the factory LSD is a pretty good piece for substantially less money, so I think a lot of people went that route when it became an option and they don't feel a burning need to upgrade to the Quaife. We have the factory LSD on both of our MINIs, but would probably have upgraded both of them to the Quaife otherwise.

I put the Quaife in about 40k miles ago along with a lighter flywheel and matching clutch. BIG improvment for both track and canyons. Well worth the time and effort spent on this mod.

Really? If I'm not mistaken that's Dr Timothy Leary. Proponent of the use of psychoactive drugs to open your mind. Specifically LSD. Fitting in a thread about lsd's...lol

Sorry but I was searching for Quaife info and found this.
