Alta Catback... WOW

Hi... I had the Alata Header w/cat (http://www.altaminiperformance.com/p...alyst-w-Header) for a month or so before the 3" catback (http://www.altaminiperformance.com/p...aust-System-3-) came in. I just installed the cat back yesterday.

MAN.. its sounds good!!

But wow.. its a bit louder than i thought it would be... will the sound settle down a bit ? Like i said.. its sounds great..and mean *** roar. Thanks for any feedback.

Terry

eh ? is this not a mini forum? also this topic is not specific to 2005-8 but a general question on exhaust. Someone else posted in this 'forum' about an exhaust question.

Thanks for the helpful post.

I would really doubt that the sound will settle down. Exhaust isn't like springs that settle in. What you got now, is what you'll have.

^Exactly. In my experience the exhaust actually tends to get louder with time. Granted this is on an R56 so could be a completely different ballgame.

Regardless of the right or wrong forum, thanks for the purchase and the feedback. The 3" is a brutal beast and will certainly let folks know you are around. Unlikely it will get any louder for maybe the next 75K miles.

Thanks again!

gonna be hard with those oval tips. If it becomes a huge issue, either add an additional resonator in the center section, or change the header when its time for inspection.

Thanks again for th purchase!

I just meant this is the second generation forum whereas it should be in the first generation forum...

Has anyone measured the sound level of the 3" turbo-back system with a dB meter? That is the only way to tell; everything else is just talk. I would very much like to know what the dB level is as I was about to buy the turbo-back system today. However, I don't want an overly loud car for normal driving. I don't like to create the wrong kind of attention and certainly do not want to be disturbing to others.

thanks,
Joe Stephenson

Actually, R56 with turbo will be quieter. Turbo acts as muffler, reduces noise.
