Is is still possible to get MTH Tunes?

Just wondering if this was still a possibilty? Maybe GIAC is easier and cheaper?

Sure!

Depending on where you are, Don at DMH is doing them still, and Lynn (NitroMiniS) is a s well.

thanks, I just saw DMH website...$665.00 + 97.50 for the cable...man that's steep. I can get the GIAC tune for $325 and full on custom tune for $500.00. I though a while back the MTH tunes were in the $300 range???

That's the dollar devaluation for you.

The euro has moved up by almost 50% relative to the dollar in the past year or two.

So the price of 665.00 is correct. Heck for 665.00 I can drive from where I live in Arizona to CA and have Jan tune my car that would no doubt blow the MTH email tune out of the water.

I had it for a long, long time....

and at that price, I'd pass. There are other options out there (where do you live?) that give similar or better results.

Thanks for your replies! I live in Phoenix. Mynes will do a "canned" tune for around $350 and a custom tune for $500.00. Evolution Motorsports can to the GIAC tune for I think around $350.00. I am not opposed to driving to CA to have Jan tune my car but dont really like the idea of being that far away if I need any support. Mynes might be the way to go...they have done the Fireballed mini's and they are less than 15 mins away. I really like the fact that GIAC has a 30 day money back if you are not satisfied. The GIAC dealer here siad that he has never had anybody bring back a GIAC tune.

For the money go see JAN. I went from stock to GIAC, a bump up and then a custom tune, 2 more bump ups from the GIAC.

An RMW Custom Dyno tune will net a lot more HP and costs less, FYI.

Jan flies all over the country on a regular basis, there's no reason to be concerned about support being "Far Away".

Out of the hundreds of cars he's tuned thus far there haven't been any issues with any of them. I was one of the first cars he tuned, and I've been running the tune without a single issue. I'm actually psyched up about getting his cam, and getting the car retuned, because he's perfected the tune quite a bit since mine, and things he can squeeze another 10-12 HP out of it with the cam.

As one who had the MTH "Tuner" tune and who now has the RMW tune, they aren't even close.

I had my MTH tune sent back to be updated when I got 380 injectors as my car was running too rich.

The "new" tune hardly helped at all.

When my car was put on a dyno for Jan's tune (RMW) it was still way too rich. Needless to say I was very upset that I paid $100 for a upgraded tune for the 380 injectors with MTH that helped very little.

With Jan's tune I could tell a considerable difference in my car's performance. He got my air/fuel ratios where they should have been. I picked up over 20 ft. lbs of torque in my mid range. My car is an automatic and it's very hard to get an accurate hp reading as it wants to upshift at 6750 rpm.

Needless to say I am very happy with his tune.

IMO Jan's tune is one step you must include if you want you MINI to perform to it's maximum potential.

Yup, there's definitely no comparison between a custom dyno tune and a "Canned" tune, even from a major company like GIAC. Having the car on the dyno and tuning out anomalies present in each individual car is essential to creating the most efficient tune.

Thank you all for your input! Now I guess I have to decide on going down the street 15 miles to Mynes Performance or driving 600 miles round trip to California.

Mynes does great work. PM Blake (ThumperMCS). He's worked with them in the past, as have tons of other members. Whatever you do, it's a no brainer for me, dyno tune is way more valuable than a canned tune .

Another alternative is to wait until someone puts together a dyno party in AZ or somewhere closer than SoCal, Jan loves his traveling tuning parties .

you'd be surprised, i actually know how to operate a computer...

thanks guys. i'm curious to investigate. but, a question: my MCS works mini hasn't had ANY mods (full disclosure, driving lights + aero kit en route to my house as we speak)...is this the best bang for the buck for a power-desiring/daily driver or is there another first step? i'm not looking to drop mega cash into the car, but i can't help the tinkering/tweaking-itch...

side note: the car (05) is still under the mini warranty for another year...

2nd side note: anyone seen this?
