Drivetrain SHIFT KNOB JERKY ...JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT :(
does anyone feel that there shift **** is just not right? mine feels jerky at most times. i've driven a lot of other friends cars such as, vw golf gti 1.8t, ford focus svt, and a sentra, they all seem to shift a lot smoother than my mini. maybe this is just the nature of the beast, or there's a problem. i should probably just take it in!
The other manuals I've driven have definitely felt different than my MCS, but it was my impression, upon reflection, that the gates on the 6 speed are just really well defined, whereas the others-- BMW 3 series (not so much, here), VW Jetta Wolfsburg, and an old Integra-- weren't necessarily "smoother" so much as they were mushier. Does that make sense? Kind of floppy, in a way. I"m probably describing it poorly...

I couldn't say mine feels jerky most of the time, but sometimes it definitely does and I've gotten used to it and it's fine because it doesn't bother me. When the transmission is cold it feels that way as well. But for 90% of the time it feels really nice to shift with and there are lots of times where it's extremely smooth. Of course, downshifting also depends on how well my brain and feet are doing with the pedals, if i'm on the dot, it's smooth as butter.
