stroker

what's the latest on the stroker from jan ? are there any torque numbers yet? any idea as to the price ?this seems a good way to go if it's strong . is it .020 over or .025 over? i'll be looking probly next year to do something with this pig. the extra torque is more real world for me . i really hope this turns out to be a viable option .

Your best best would be to pick up the phone and call Jan. Everyone else can only speculate at this time.

Not trying to be negative or dis a 200+ whp MINI , but Dynapack chassis dynamometers read substantially higher than other dynamometers, such as the Mustang or Dynojet. I'm sure all you experts already know this and are saying "duh", but I'm just putting it out there for some of the other people that read this thread are aware.

My roomate's bolt on RSX-S has 185 whp on a Mustang dyno and 209 whp on a Dynapack with the EXACT same setup. Using the same ratio 185/209, 255whp => 226 whp on a Mustang dyno, which is still a heck of a lot better than 99% of the MINIs.

accualy that's backwards... Dynojet used to read higher than Mustang and dyno pack... but have since steped things up... it really matters no more..

also.. that's 255 WHP and 210 ft lbs

wow..those are some impressive numbers, and sounds totally newbie.. but can someone please let me know what exactly is in a "stroker" system? all i know is it's something to do with making the crank stroke further downward or something like that to expand the cc? am i on the right track jan?

i'm very interested in this sort of power, but really have no idea what stage jan is in with the production? nor the extensive work it required? or even rough idea/ballpark of the price (so i can save up and lose it in jan's hand)~

thanks guys

Yes, I use only the best liners as these engines are built for more abuse than what people will normally give them. They are full blown racing engines that can be driven daily. At this point I am not selling the parts as there is much skill in doing this and the potential for someone else to screw it up is very high. Quality control is the name of the game at this point as this engine is in it's infancy with the general public. All it will take is someone to screw it up and then bad mouth the system because of their error. I am sure you can understand.

you say that tuls but lets look at the kit. first of all is the manifold. now it looks like it could be made to be a true twin scroll set up. this will help with spool of whatever turbo you run. the trubo in the pic is a monster, guessing GT35r from the power levles, but you could strap a GT28 or 30 on there and get resonable spool times. the intake track looks nice and simple and could probalby be made to fit (Fireballed got a chagecooler in there!lol). the throttle posistion is ok and could maybe use the stock throttle?? the only think is the cooler. now that could be incorpriated into the intake manifold to reudce the space needed.

soo to sum up....you are 100% right mate this is a drag kit....but it could work on the street!

Jan you got and pics of the downpipe on that engine??

thanks Chris.

oh dont get me wrong.. it can work great on the street... you dont see 600 WHP civics and 1200 WHP supras cause someone was worried about it working on the street...

I just have to specify that cause MOST of the MINI community isnt ready for what it takes.... they want "bolt on" power... but you dont make 400 WHP by bolting things on...

anyway, it's just sort of my disclaimer post... but your responce says DOOO EET! LOL

I like that!
