hey guys 1st time poster with his trigger on ordering a MCS w/the works kit. Now considering limited mods looking for input.

thought this might have been missed in another thread where I posted this originally. Does the Mini have a MAF (Mass Airflow sensor)? I think most if not all cars do these days. Anyway, if so, does it restrict how much extra cool air the ecu can account for? As a certain point in VWs and Audis (at least the TT) the ecu cannot adapt to additional airflow beyond a certain point, making cold air intakes useful to a point. Of course, this is a heavily debatedpoint on those forums but I have done the runs and seen the data myself, CAI just don't pay on my current car.

Any data here to support or deny this w/Minis??? Also, an info supporting that the intakes take o2 into the engine at the same or lower temps then OEM?

TIA!

Welcome to MCO bluto

On the new Green Twister intake there will soon be some dyno results on a Cooper 5 speed. I'm curious as well about the effectiveness of a CAI on my CVT and am awaiting results before I invest. I don't know about data for MCS intakes, but you could do a search in this forum (tiny [search] box located next to white drop down menu above).

Good luck,
Kim

Our cars do not have a mass airflow sensor.

Hi, and Welcome to MCO.

The intakes have been tested, and have been proven effective on the MCS. The Pilo Racing intake has been dyno tested at 6-7 HP and only costs 145. It has been proven the best HP per dollar intake on the market so far. Check us out at www.thepilo.com

Thanks,
Dan

So bluto are a fellow vw convert. But yes it is true the Mini doesn't have a MAF so you don't have to worry about replacing that or coilpacks and such......

Well I can say that the aftermarket intake systems on the MINI definitely make a difference. I also have a VW passat (1.8t) and it seems like the stock airbox is the way to go with that car and will stay that way for the most part, so I don't bother to get an intake for that. I got the Pilo intake on my MCS and the difference is not miminal, the air sensor(s) can definitely manage the difference. So anyway, how do the MINI's measure the air flow, does it have a MAP sensor?
