Drivetrain Alta CIA on 07 S Turbo getting backfires
Alta CIA on 07 S Turbo getting backfires
Just put the CIA on yesterday.
Everything is working fine, and I finally can hear the turbo and blowoff like the ad says
But now I am getting backfires on downshifts, and rolling to a stop.
Anyone else getting this?

LMAO! Big Brother is everywhere apparently. Even on NAM!

my novice amateur instincts tell me either some oil from the foam filter assembly made its way to the MAF sensor or somehow the MAF is no longer functioning at 100% but I'll leave the real diagnosis to Alta. I'm sure they will know what to do.
The sound is awesome though!

I would agree to this one more.
I can clean the maf. the alta was pretty well coated with oil.
And sorry about the keyboard dyslexia.
COLD AIR INDUCTION CAI.
[edit] And yes the sound is awsome. very happy that I can hear the dang turbo spool up.

Hey sorry you are having an issue at all. In the future, feel free to call me or my staff for a more prompt reply than me bumping into it here! But hey thanks for the business.
Couple things to check. More than likely the clamp after the MAF sensor (the one that is closest to the turbo) is likely loose. This allows air flow in behind the MAF and the car hates that. Check that first.
Then on the filter it should be in the instructions (I dont have a copy here) that you should remove nearly all the oil from the filter prior to installation with a shop rag or similar. This goes for inside and out. If the oil has gotten on the MAF sensor, use the proper cleaner (NOT carb cleaner!) it comes in an aerosol form and can be sprayed right on the sensor and air dry.
Other than that, unless you did something really silly like drop the maf sensor, or managed to cut a wire someplace the intake simply can't cause a backfire. PLEASE let us know what you find.
Thanks again for choosing ALTA!

Thank you. I will clean it off real quick and also drop by the autozone and clean the maf, then check all the connections.
