would the r53 supercharger fit on the r56. The reason is because I jsut found out that the r56 is dohc.

Like anything in the auto world, it all comes down to cost.

So...

would the r53 supercharger fit on the r56. The reason is because I jsut found out that the r56 is dohc.
...yes, provided enough skill, engineering talent, and fabrication (by means of cash).

Now, has anyone done it yet, and/or done it with reasonable cost? No, and not likely to happen.

It sounds like you're hunting for ways to swap parts or whole motors between the cars.

Just to be crisp, the R56 motor is a completely new clean-sheet design and doesn't share a single part with the R53. Under the hood, it's essentially a brand new car. So swapping of motors, superchargers is likely to be about the same work as swapping in a Honda or Toyota engine or other component... not impossible, but so far from a bolt-up operation, it's not remotely feasible unless you're a custom car builder.

is say hold on for a little while.

there will be LOTS of tuning stuff come out for these engines! the engine isant JUST used in the MINI but also in some cars over here in Europe to.

might still be cheaper to chop your car in for a R56 car though.

Thanks Chris.

Even if you could make it work, there are much better ways to get power out of an R56 motor than strapping a very adiabatically inefficient blower onto it.

That is all I needed to know.
Some people like superchargers better than turbos. So its a matter of preference. I dont need your opinion on which one is more efficient or which one you like better.

If that's directed to me, what I said is fact, not an opinion and nowhere did I say which method I preferred.

Every method has an application to which it's best suited - you're more than welcome to spend the $$$ to do whatever you want, but in this particular application...other options will fare better.

In light of this thread, maybe we should revisit this idea... it's not a supercharger vs. turbo argument now...

Specifically this graph...

You would pay more to do the swap then it would be to buy the daym 07 car then start to tune it......trust me on this...

Those numbers are nothing to get excited over....not for a swap....double them and then you may find it worthwhile, but even then......there are other viable options for pennies on that dollar...
