Drivetrain Scoops - do they make a difference to performance?
Scoops - do they make a difference to performance?
I know the makers of the different intercooler scoops will tell me that yes, they make a difference to the performance, but has anyone ever tested these claims?
In my mind the way to prove it would be the inlet air temp after the IC. It should be cooler. I imagine testing an IC would be done the same way.
Anyone seen or done any testing?

Tricky subject to quantify, but in short yes folks (including myself) have tested different scoops with approach (IAT - ambient temp) being the typical measure of performance.
The numbers vary quite a bit based on many factors, but yes a scoop can improve intercooler performance. Getting a good seal to maximize use of the available air is an important factor.

I use a m7 extreme scoop and a alta diverter/sprayer and it seals well and "I THINK" it really helps out. I only use the sprayer in SUPER extreme driving, aka track and autoX.
Thanks. Does anyone have a link to any test that shows which scoop would be best for performance with a GRS TMIC? I know some of them are just for looks, but I dont mind if its as ugly as sin if it makes a real difference.
