Please Help!!!

I think I just seriously screwed up my car.
I was installing the ALTA Intercooler Diverter and I lost the Torx driver I was using to tighten up the bolts for the silicone couplers in the engine bay. I ended up finding it, but ended up losing it again! I fished around a bit with a little magnetic part finder thing, but couldn't find it.
I couldn't find it the second time, but I figured I'd start the car anyway. I figured it'd just drop out on it's own time to the same harmless spot it was the last time. BAD IDEA! I feel like such an idiot.
Now I've got this weird whining/sucking/revving sound when the car starts. And then the RPMs start increasing for no reason!
What could I have done?
Any ideas?

Update:
After looking at a few other threads, it seems that the air diverter might cause more vibrations, etc. Though the sound is so different, it doesn't seem like that could bit. I think I'll go buy a torque wrench and make sure everything's tight anyway. Somebody in this thread seemed to indicate that 7ft-lbs was necessary. Though I'm going to have to buy a new Torx set now too.

Update 2x:
Nevermind, I fixed it, false alarm.

Sounds to me like one of the rubber intercooler couplers aren't fitted correctly & are sucking air. This causes a sucking noise & an increase in RPM.

That would probably be it then. I'm gonna go find a replacment torx bit and see if I can put the old ones back on.

Yay. False alarm. I have enough self esteem so that I can realize when I totally screwed up.
It wasn't that I dropped the torx bit that caused the problem. It was that I lost it when I was tightening everything up. Therefore everything was still somewhat loose, and I forgot to double check that before starting the car or the subsequent freaking out.
Everything's fine now, car runs great. False alarm.
