I have seen several comments about how much faster the MCS is with 16" rims compared to the 17" stock rims. Do the 17's weight that much more? I thought I was getting "Special" light weight 17" rims... I want to compare the stock 17" rim weights to some aftermarket rims.

S-lites weigh 25.1 lbs. The runflats very in weight, the Dunlops and Pirellis about 22 lbs, the Goodyears about 30 lbs.

Super_MINI-
In general the weight of a rim is more as the diameter gets larger so 15" rims are usually quite light. while 18" rims are really heavy. When considering the options you have for wheels look at both the tire and the rim. Depending on the construction of the rim, lighter rims may allow faster acceleration but may be prone to more damage. You have to be very careful where you drive and miss all of the major potholes and bumps or you might damage your light rims. For 16" rims depending on design- often you can get one that is about 11.5 pounds on up. Depending on size- tires are about 20+ pounds. If you pay less and get cast alloy rims they are usually very heavy but reasonably strong. If you pay alot more and get forged wheels then the weight can be decreased while the strength stays reasonably high. You still have to be careful about road hazzards.
