Thunderhill 8-31

Anyone going to the class at thunderhill on august 31?
It's my first track day and I'm counting the days. Any advice from people who've taken this class?
Thanks
Bob

I did it last year. Had a good time. They had a ride along with instructors in the beginning at a slower speed to show you the track. After that you could have an instructor ride with you to help learn the line. Brief class room after each session. Plenty of track time. Worth doing. Similar to other trackdays that have instructors.

You will have a blast!

T-hill can be hot in August.

Get there early and go to the far end of the paddock area and park under the awning. Bring a folding chair to sit on while you're not on the track or in the classroom.

Bring plenty of fluids to drink. More than just water. Bring some gatorade or something like that.

I always change my oil before going and put in fresh brake fluid. If this is your first time, you probably won't be to hard on the brakes, but I would change your oil.

Be prepared to learn, and listen to your instructor.

OK,

So I had my track day at thunderhill last thursday and since then I have been scouring the net for the next possible track, anywhere within a couple hours that I can hit ASAP. If anyone has been on the fence about this, DO IT. I can't put into words how fun and informative this is.
After my first run with an instructor, My new instructor was Jerry aka siddharta. He took the other mini in the class and myself under his wing and taught us apart from the others how to truly drive our cars. ( I'm not saying this will happen to any mini showing up at T-hill.) The track is awesome and we had ample driving time, I don't know if it was the back to back sessions or the heat but I got a little woozy at the end.
The best part is that it reallly got me over my fear of spinning out or doing some damage to my baby. Since everyone on the track is into hard driving, you don't have to worry about the soccer mom in the suv coming around a blind turn and you can really open up your ride. I hit the rev limiter a couple times per session, and that has never happened to me in street driving. So this way I got to learn the "limits" of the car in a safe environment.
Again, this was a great class, great track and great instructor. (I won't get into the details but sid definitely believes in the power of the mini) I know it's not about who you passed but just to boost my ego i"l tell ya, not that I was keeping count :
wrx sti
wrx w/mods
g35
couple o' corvettes
mustang gt
mazda 626
porsche 924
integra
maybe a viper but then everybody was pasing them coz they couldn't make a turn.

P.s
be prepared for people to act surprised and somewhat pissed off that your mini smoked them.

Sounds like you had a blast. I'm signed up for NCRC at T-hill on the 22nd of Sept. It's a great club.

You can go here to find trackdays

http://www.motorsportreg.com/calendar/index.cfm

I was at Fernley a week ago and Jerry was there showing the Minis the way around the track.
