Video camera mount

I need a video camera mount to record what I do on the track. Who makes one?

make your own... do a search and something should show up from me.

Here's some pics:

You need a piece of square aluminum tubing, two u-bolts, a tripod head, and a bolt that fits into the tripod head.

If you've already got a tripod head laying around, this is really cheap and easy. If you don't, it might be just as easy to buy something...

Snid - Do you have any videos you can share that were taken while using this mount? I have been thinking of making something like this and I like what you've shared. I am wondering about the amount of vibration that's captured on video.

Whatever you do make sure the camera captures the driver imputs - it makes for a much better video to watch if your not just looking out the windshield.

Contact eddie073 (??) on the SCDA thread to ask him about his...that thread isn't 6 years old.

Just stumbled on this thread.
I make one similar to the one snid made, except mine is mounted to the 2 headrest posts on just one seat. I generally use the drivers seat as I found that an empty passenger seat bounces too much. I also used an aluminum plate at the end for the camera mount. I can give you more details if you want.

I have seen a commercial mount that uses 2 square rods or tubes (don't remember which) one either side of the headrest posts and uses wing nuts and bolts to clamp it to the posts. One rod is longer and the camera is mount to that one.

Here is a sample video I took with my setup:

It would have been nice if my camera had a wider lens but the video, in general, is good.

Yours is still good since you can see your hands and helmet in the mirror!

What's up Jon? Roof started coming off my car today!
