I now can answer my own question: It was great. 
The handling capabilities of the MINI are awesome, and so far beyond my driving capabilities. Everyone in any thread who has said the best mod you can make is to make yourself a better driver is right.
Now, of course, having made myself a better driver, I'm thinking about mods...
