Ha, ha, heh... wait! I'm 43

Reminds me of a quick story about older drivers (indulge me, I'm 43).
It was 1986 at the Martin Marietta Sports Car Club autocross and I had my fancy schmancy Honda CRX SI, fast, light, great for the course. I had done some auto-X and thought that I might be looking for a win in my class, perhaps a FTD. The (slightly) older gentleman who served as the steward (basically ran the course during the event) was a cigar-chomping old racer in the classic sense. That day he had a RENTAL Chevy Cavalier STATION WAGON and to make a long story short, he stomped all but a few of us running the cones in this WAGON, with the radio and A/C on and with his (unlit) cigar firmly chomped. I'll never forget what age and treachery can do to youthful exuberance. Wherever you are sir -- respect!
