Driving a MINI 101
Driving a MINI 101
Hello Professors!
I've been driving my 1 1/2 week old '05 MCC carefully during the break-in, keeping the revs below 4,500. Where should I be shifting once I get past the break-in to maximize the fun factor? I know that the MINI engines were made to "Rev High" but I just wanted to hear what other, more experienced MINI drivers had to say.
Thanks!

For most power you can wait and shift alot later from 4500 to 6500 rpm but you will tend to lower your mpg.
This is the "driver's school" forum, no?
After you break it in, I assume you'll be taking it to the track....if so, eventually (VERY important word) you'll want your foot to the floor as much as possible and you'll be shifting at or near redline.
Of course, I have a Cooper (non-S) so I have no other alternative but to do the above!
Enjoy, and don't scare your instructor.....
