I'm new to the mini world and have spend the last few months building a weekend track car out of an 03 mcs. I joined SCCA and have sent in the application for my novice permit so far. Now I am looking for a reasonably priced driving school alternative in CT or NY compared to Skip Barber. I've done track days with SCDA in the past with other vehicles. I'm now looking to get a little more serious. Any info is greatly appreciated

The car clubs such as bmwcca, pca, NASA and SCCA run schools with the volunteer instructors.

If you are looking at professional instructors, Bob Bondurant, Skippy and Bertil Roos come to mind but only Skippy and Roos are close.

From what I was told I need 6 hours in the log book ok'ed by an instructer to apply for an scca competitive license. I think I am required to take 2 driving schools. I'm trying to go the least expensive route to obtain a competive license. Any suggestions from all of the above you listed?

 

This may be a few years back but I got my regional SCCA racing licence from Skip after their 3 day race school.
