Greetings, all. Power just back up on Saturday in my neck of the woods. We lost a few trees, but the house and, more important, the garage is fine.

FYI -- I did the SCDA autocross/skidpad clinic a few weeks ago and it was a heap of fun. It was raining so cars were skidding every which way, but it was a terrific way to get a feel for how the MINI behaves on the other side of "the limit." Better to find out at 40MPH than at 100MPH. Had oversteer working on the skidpad. Who knew it was possible in a FWD?

Was in second gear all day and probably learned more than I would at a typical track day.

Everyone getting back to normal?

gkp - What a great way to learn. I had a similar day a few weeks ago at a local SCCA autocross. Rained in the morning and they had a big sweeper built into the course that was very fast (hard on 2nd gear) to the right but it end with a quick left. So if you lifted wrong before the left, the back would come around. Took me 3 runs before I didn't put the car sideways. Not that hard to get oversteer if you are not looking for it

Went 5 days until power came back - Saturday night. But no biggie since the generator was wired into the house.

Nice. If this type of weather continues, I may have to look into a battery storage system to go along with my solar panels.

BTY - nice build video of your car.

Here's Veggivet in action!

Thanks for posting, S-Driver. This was first session of the day, and it didn't take long for some excitement...watch the orange Lotus at the entrance to the uphill in the second lap at 4:20. Tires probably not warmed up sufficiently, but he made a great recovery. The car sustained only minor damage to the front bumper, even though it sounded a lot worse. Too bad you can't really see the speedo, as I was hitting mid 140's down the front straight.

slinger688 11-12-2012 02:10 AM

Mid 140's. fantastic.

Yup, just like a certain young lady at Monticello a couple of years ago. Remember?

I can't wait to see this creation!

For Christmas, my MINI wil be getting a new clutch. I am going to try the OsGiken GT since ACT doesn't make anything for the R56.

Happy Holidays, gentlemen!

Eddie07S 12-06-2012 05:41 PM

I got a set of camber plates...IE fixed. They will go in in the spring.

You'll love 'em. Slinger told me to put them on two years ago and I did.

Yup...had them on my '07...those I got them from Slinger
I need them for the Toyo R888 I got. They recommend at least -1.6 deg of camber for those tires. I expect the same is true for all the R comps.

Yes, Slinger. Very close. Too close. The son of a woman who works for me has a son at that school. Fortunately he's OK. Thanks for thinking of us back in CT.
