Anybody planning on LRP on September 8th? I'll be there...

I am signed up. Looking forward to it. However, It will be with the Gray S... No JCW this time. A few issues (minor) with it need to be sorted before it sees the track again... :)

That's great! Looking forward to seeing you next Tuesday. Having a blast at WGI with gkp so far. I thought there'd be more MINIs here with the $50 discount, but only one other besides ours. That one is actually a Justa running in advanced on street tires and 15 inch wheels. Very nice driver; from Buffalo area. Tons of BMWs of course...

Eddie07S 08-31-2020 07:48 PM

I know that guy from Buffalo. I bought my 15” wheels for him.

Eddie07S 09-01-2020 07:05 AM

Gbuff is his screen name. Hope you said hi from me... :)

veggivet 09-02-2020 04:46 AM

I did indeed! He's actually been having a problem with his LF wheel that both gkp and I thought only you could solve. I'll fill you in when I see you next week at LRP. Let's hope the weather is as good as it was at the Glen.

Eddie07S 09-02-2020 07:55 AM

VV - It sounds like you and GKP had a really good time. That is fantastic!

I am looking forward to next Tuesday and hearing all about WGI...

Mike, it was a pleasure to meet you and Glenn and put faces to names--good conversation and lotsa laughs  Glad the weather held out too, though I had the new 71Rs at the ready just in case.....just came back from having two tires flipped and one replaced so not bad for two days and no front camber

Hope to see you guys (and Jon too--hi Jon!) at future events, and thanks once again for the 2:21.4!!

Gary

Anytime, gbuff1! Great meeting you too, and great seeing a Justa on the track. It brought good memories of my own 02 Indi Blue Justa, though I never ran that on the track, except for parade laps at Lime Rock, which don't count. I hope Elivan takes your suggestion seriously for a two day Lime Rock event to make the drive worth it for you. I still can't believe you're running basically a bone stock Justa in the advanced group; that just blows my mind.

VV, thanks for the kind words, and just remember that science has proven that if a monkey repeats a task often enough he MAY learn it

Now, what did I do with that banana????

Eddie07S 09-02-2020 05:30 PM

I believe Gbuff hasn’t worn out a set of brakes since he got the car and that he is of the belief they just slow you down... That’s how you run with the big boys...

Hahaha! It's hilarious when you get black-flagged for having no brake lights......don't ask

Wow...GBuff has been at it for a looong time. I use to see him when I did track days! G52 and Kajote days....

veggivet 09-03-2020 03:37 AM

Hey S-Driver, your name did come up during our trackside convos, of course! We all miss you and your MINI, not to mention watching you drive the ***** out of that car!

Please don't remind me  Lots of miles, tires, and fun. And bananas!
G52 driver's meetings were the best. Mark Taylor would say "Let's take care of ourselves out there" and that was basically it. And we did.....
Great to hear from you, S-Driver!

I ran one day with G52, and I was never more mentally tired afterwards in my entire life! 🤪

S-Driver 09-03-2020 06:57 AM

That was a fun event Gbuff.....

I miss track days but enjoy (now) not spending the $$ the track build was gunna cost. But what a car it would have been had it seen completion..

veggivet 09-03-2020 07:05 AM

For sure, a mid-engine MINI would rule any track! There were a couple of classic 2002 BMWs @ WGI, totally raced-prepped, one red and one blue, owned by brothers with nearly identical trailers. I asked one of them how long it took him to build it, and he said he bought it in turnkey condition for 30k. I thought it would be a lot more than that...

veggivet 09-03-2020 07:08 AM

@gbuff1, what corner is that @ the Glen?

Eddie07S 09-03-2020 07:24 AM

The Toe?

That is the only place I remember that wedge shaped concrete...

That picture is a great shot. One in a Million. It was done with a long lens so distances get compressed and the curbing doesn’t look right, though.

veggivet 09-03-2020 07:30 AM

Initially, I thought it was the toe as well, but the curbing isn't consistent with that area. Also, the track out is curving slightly left, which isn't consistent with the toe either. I'd love to know where the person was when taking this shot. There are no stands at the toe, and it looks like the shot was taken from a good height up...

Eddie07S 09-03-2020 07:55 AM

Turn 8 and the picture was taken from the tower at T9?

veggivet 09-03-2020 07:57 AM

Yup, that's it! You can see the edge of the large gravel run-off area that GKP used to his advantage when his computer decided the car needed a rest from his thrashing on Day 1.

Eddie07S 09-03-2020 08:19 AM

Hmmm, so GKP had a little “computer knows better issue”?

veggivet 09-03-2020 08:49 AM

Either that or it just needed a rest from the intense thrashing he inflicts on the car...😉
