1/4 mile vid

I ran my first 1/4 mile with my Mini since the upgrades and it was a 14.788 this weekend with a 15%, shark injector ECU, and K&N Typhoon. Here's a clip.

That Kind Of Sucks

14.7...blaaahhhhh....I can't believe that?! What altitude are you driving in? I ask and I comment because I have read several articles from Road and Track, Motor Trend and Car and Driver. I've seen stock times vary from 15.9 in the quarter down to 14.8 in the quarter...stock!

To hear that you have the pulley upgrade, Cold Air Kit and the Shark Injector...it makes me think that I need to trash my Mini and go get a new Mustang or something.

Do you have any automatic, are you unable to drive real well, what's up?!

Uhh.. bluntnk007, ur dumb in the brain, 14.7 is really good. Stock MCS from Road and Track= 15.9. Plus it all depends on conditions, if its 40 degrees F, ur car is gonna run alot better than on a hot and humid summer day. Taking a second off ur 1/4 mile time is alot, just look at the mini madness car with 250 + hp, that ran 14.5 in the quarter. And if u have ever been to the track u would realize how hard it is to launch a mini if u have never dragged before. My JCW is just as fast as my friends r32 vw rolling, but since he has all wheel drive, he will stomp me when we launch. So before u post nonsense, u should know what ur talking about.

why do cooper guys insist on quarter miles? give me a 69 camaro and it's all over. the cooper is about handling .

The cooper isnt ment to be a drag car. It is however ment to take twisties with the greatest of ease, and be quick. There is however a difference in being quick and being fast.

If i wanted a drag car a 1.6L front wheel drive car would not be at the top of my choices...sorry guys.

But to take it to the strip just for sh-ts and giggles...sure why not?

BTW a 14sec run for a MCS is respectable, good job!

You wont be saying that next year, when, like a few other NAM-ers, i will be campagning a 12 sec to sub 12 second MCS.

I hope you are right! I believe a lot more people will be breaking into the 12's and 13's with the nitrous, single turbo conversions, twin-charged, and M62s.

Even though the MINI is all about handling, I still want some straight line power and authority to scare off those new cars (Mustang GTs, WRX's, stock Evos, STi's, etc.).

A 14.7 isn't bad. If you had an exhaust and better launch, you probably could have seen lower 14's. What was your trap speed?

Well, i'm planning on running a TC and nitrous setup onmy car soon.

No matter what, the prices of the upgrades will keep the number of these kind of cars running around down rather low.

Road and Track is full of crap on that 15.9 guess. What were they running it on a 105 degree day? The cooper s six speed is good for a low 15s all day with a decent driver. It feels as fast as my rsx-s that i used to have and that was good for low 15s as well.

people can't drive, bottom line.

just go to the track on any given day/night and you will see cars that SHOULD go 13 seconds yet they only go 14's...just giving an example

you'll see more people wheel hopping and missing gears and crunching, grinding between shifts and you'll realize people just can't drive worth a sheet.

Give me a 250 hp mini and i'll show you a high 12-low 13 second 1/4 mile one after the other.

my man, i am a driver, you can't see my shifts, they are fast as lightning...
once my wife's mini is finished i will show you timeslips.
250 whp in a 2500 lb car is an easy 13 sec. 1/4 mile...with me driving of course.

my bone stock srt4 with 50 miles on it went consistent high 13's with a best of 13.817 when all other mags were running low 14's with them...don't hate.

Thats one of the most corny things I have heard here on nam. thanx for the LOL!

Most people here consider themselves "driver"s. If theres one thing I know, its not how fast you move your stick, its how you engage it that counts!

so like I said before, lets see the slips, and even better lets see some in car video of these amazing driving skills!

LOL, no mini slips...hence no Mini in our driveway yet!

but here's some slips of an 04 srt equipped with an over the counter Dodge Stage 3 kit...on 18" toyo proxies.

i'm on the right...

Most stage 3 srt's with this setup were running high 12's-low 13's on drag radials while i ran consistent 12.5's with the occasional 12.2-12.3
(the 126mph trap was accomplished by spraying an 80 shot in third and fourth gears)

LOL, it's got everything to do with it...
i've taken cars that are meant to go 13's and i've made them go low-mid 12's...why? Cause i can drive better than most, that's why.

You ever wanna see what your car can do, let me drive it.
