04 MCS w/ stock pulley: 14.952 @ 93.82 mph
04 MCS w/ stock pulley: 14.952 @ 93.82 mph
Ran my 2004 MCS (48,000 miles) for the first time at the track today at my other car club's dragstrip rental at Cordova, IL. Only mods to my car are as follows:
Stock airbox "honeycombed" w/ K&N panel filter, 1 ball exhaust, and Rota 16" Slipstreams with Nitto NeoGen 205/50/16's.
My MCS has no sunroof, no package groups, and cloth seats. I imagine it's one of the lighter ones out there since it has no options. I took my floormats out, but that's the extent of the weight removal.
Temps were in the 50's and sunny when I made my best run at noon, although it was in the 30's for our drive out to the track early in the morning (Brrrr!!!
). Barometric pressure was great (30.2) as well.

Here are my first four runs that I did within the span of an hour:
11:27 AM
60': 2.397
1/8: 9.806
1/8 mph: 73.91
1/4: 15.077
1/4 mph: 93.08
11:31 AM
60': 2.485
1/8: 9.805
1/8 mph: 74.54
1/4: 15.052
1/4 mph: 93.69
12:02 PM
60': 2.388
1/8: 9.720
1/8 mph: 74.26
1/4: 14.952
1/4 mph: 93.82
12:26 PM
60': 2.413
1/8: 9.847
1/8 mph: 74.12
1/4: 15.099
1/4 mph: 93.42
My 3 other passes later in the day (2:15, 2:30, 3:00) all had worse 60' times (2.45-2.50) and the results were 15.194 @ 92.63 mph, 15.206 @ 92.68 mph, and 15.336 @ 92.64 mph.
I avoided the water box, and just did a small burnout to clean off the tires before coming up to the line. I was typically bringing the rpms up to the 2500 range, and then slipping the clutch while going WOT. Mostly it just chirped the tires a little and went, but bogged two runs, and spun a bit on two other passes.
Most of my runs were against a stock 2007 MCS. He was trapping 94.0-95.2 mph consistently, but he was having more trouble with his 60's (typically in the 2.5 range). His best ET as I left for the day was a 14.85, and he ran a 14.952 on the same run that I hit a 14.952 (weird to see the EXACT same ET on a timeslip!). He was typically creeping up on me slowly as we crossed the finish line (evidenced by his .5 to 1.5 faster mph).
All in all, I was very impressed by the MCS for the few mods that are done to it. I probably won't be able to resist putting a pulley on it, but will probably wait until springtime to do so.

Your times are quite consistent in the 15.0 area, how are you staging...shallow or deep ? A shallow stage may explain why you got a 14.95 and the higher mph.
I'm not trying to bust your bubble of the 14 run, just curious.

My buddy is a big time Honda guy and he was showing me some of the forums he goes on. There was a 2003 rsx type s with a dyno of 205hp and 140tq and putting down 14.2 in the quarter. I have that and then some without a tune so i think with good tires and driver it should be possible to hit in the high 13s.What do you think?
