Guess you don't have my DVD yet huh?

Apply it like any pure polish or wax application. Speed 3, and use a finishing pad like the #9006 pad.

To remove, you will have better results removing by hand, but in general removal is speed 5.

Hi Richard,

Tried contacting you three times today..guess you were busy. I recieved your dvd on monday!! It is great!!! Just have a couple of questions for ya..First, is it bad if I applied the number 7 with a polishing pad at speed 5? It seems like it came out alright..Second..Which is the more aggressive product the M83 or M80 because I recieved the M83 and it removed pretty much all the cobb webbing but there were some scratches that cant be felt with the nail but did not come out with the M83..Any suggestions how to take them out? and Third.. Everytime I clay my car and grab a flourescent light..I see a whole bunch of dots all over the car..Why is this? Other than that, all the products(especially the porter cable) are fantastic. I would highly recommend the DVD to anyone who wants a show car finish!!!

re: DVD
Oh yay!! Glad it arrived!

re: 3 times
Hmm did you call my cell?? I heard from some people that they were getting a recorded message. I guess that explains why it's so quiet around here. No phone calls, and very few emails are coming in. Highly strange.

re: 7 on speed 5
#7 is a pure polish that really wants to be applied by hand due to the polishing oils in it. I mean you can do by PC, and I've done it, but it really works best when you take your time with it and work it in slowly.

re: m80 and m83
M83 is almost twice as aggressive as M80. How many complete passes did you make? A pass is where you buff the surface, wipe the residue off, and then reapply. I will often do up to 5 passes before I'm finished. M80 is more oily than M83 so its easier to work it in longer. M83 gets a bit gummy when the pad gets loaded up. I like to use more passes of M80 over using M83 whenever possible because it's easier.

Just remember that the PC is a finishing tool. It can do wonders but it can't remove all defects. Your only recourse is to spend more time working on the defect. But likely your best bet will be a major improvement from what it was without actually making it invisible or completely flawless. One of the most important things when detailing is remembering that you are improving the finish from before you worked on it, and it's not always possible to get it flawless.

re: Clay
Not sure about this. Maybe you aren't using enough lubricant? In any case, after you clay, you should be wiping it dry with a MF towel. Your next step will be the polish the surface, and if there is any residue on the paint from claying, it will be removed long before you get to applying a wax. I don't think it's anything to worry about. The most important improvement when using clay is the feel. Make sure that the surface is completely glassy smooth before you move on. That's far more important than any dots or residue. Of course if you still see these dots after you've polished and waxed, maybe they are sand blasting from the road? Or chips? Sometimes if you've got fine defects, and you've used Zaino or another product with fillers, claying cleans up the surface including any products that may have previously hidden any defects, and so they are more apparent now. I'm not sure, just guessing here in your situation.

Best way to reach me these days when I'm available is Yahoo IM. I'm OctaneGuy95 or via AIM with the same name.

Thanks for the quick response..One more question..I finished up my car and put the last coat of NXT on..Now next time I want to detail my car..what do I do? Should I use Dawn or can I use Meguiars Gold car wash? And then do I use the M80 with the porter cable or can I just go and put another coat of NXT on without using the M80? Also do you recommend putting the Number 7 on after the NXT wax like you did in the DVD with the corvette to give it that really wet look? Please get back to me as soon as possible..Thanks again

OMG, the only place that Dawn should be is in your kitchen sink!!! Why would you ever wash your car with Dawn once you've already gone through all the work of polishing and waxing it? Maybe if you're using Zaino, but not for any Meguiar's products.

You should definitely be using Gold Class Car Wash or NXT Car Wash or DP's Prima Mystique Car Wash.

The reason you use M80 with the PC is to polish the paint. You are removing light swirls. If you've taken care of your paint, you may not have any swirls to remove, so just wash the car and you're fine. If you want to wax it, go right ahead. If you want to polish out some swirls, then sure, go ahead, and remember you have to follow that with wax.

#7 and the Spray Wax tutorials in the video were really bonus sections. They were put in the video to demonstrate how to use those products. That's one of the most common misunderstandings of the video.

Sure you can use #7 after you've waxed the car for a quick shine, but it won't last more than a day. It's purely a beauty product. You can make it last longer by putting a wax over it. But, #7 like DP's Prima Finish, is an optional step that beautifies and improves the finish for paints that really need it.

The Corvette was actually wet and glossy before #7. In fact if you've seen my work, you should know that I promote the fact that the majority of the wet look is from good prep, and that simply claybar, and polish will give you that wet look without any wax, so the wax is really just a protectant, and doesn't necessarily contribute to the wet look. And as I mentioned earlier, #7 is a pure polish.

Make sure to watch my free 30 minute video on washing using the two bucket method. You can see it on my site at www.ShowCarGarage.com
