Proper way to apply rubber/vinyl/leather dressing...(?)
In order to achieve this "ultimate" matte finish, we did have to sacrifice some UV protection (but not all, of course!). Nero has plenty of UV inhibitors in it to work very well if you're applying somewhat frequently anyway (like most of us detailing freaks!).
However, if you only apply every, say 45 days or so, then 303 Aerospace Protectant has a stronger UV protectant and a decently matte finish. IMO, 303 leads the industry in UV strength by far over the others. As usual, depends on what you're looking for.We know that some people really want the most matte you can get, despite a wee tradeoff. Hence, Nero was born.

Thanks, Heather!
Considering that my car is garaged that might be my best option!

On most surfaces, Prima Nero is the least shiny of anything else out there we've tested (including Griot's and many, many others).

ok, finally got home tonight... will try out the Griot's LeatherCare in the
8oz bottle that's been sitting here begging to be tried.
since my G35C has perforated leather seats, I will need to use a super
small amount not to make earwax looking crap stuck in the holes. lol

My wife's car has a mix of smooth and perforated leather. I apply the leather conditioner to a microfiber and apply to a section or two of smooth leather first, before moving on to the perforated, using a ligher touch on the perf. sections. This helps distribute the conditioner into the microfiber before you get to an area with the holes and the lighter touch seems to help prevent buildup in the perforations.
^^ i did the same, except i used the blue foam pad... even over the
preforations. i only put a very small amount on there, worked on the
smooth surface, then moved onto the preforated surfaces.
it turned out real nice. i took my time and at the end, took a
cotton towel to wipe everything down. it's a nice healthy look...
much easier to apply than i thought.

Griot's vinyl and rubber dressing:
With two coats, a day a part, it took a hard rubber bumper from 1994 that was probably parking-bumped many times to near new condition. The first was kinda thirsty and it absorbed a bit, the second gave it a sheen and smoothness that I never had seen on this car. This is my test car as it awaits its new owner. I applied it with disposable chem lab high cotton content cleaning cloths. The stuff is amazing.

^^ nice!
i put that stuff on the outer rubber seals around
my G35C's door windows as it was looking dry (the seal contacts the
glass directly like on our MINI's).
it gave a nice semi-matt finish and no greasy ikky mess on the glass.
im going to try this stuff on the MCS fender arches next time. anyone
want the rest of my Meguiar's Rubber and Vinyl protectant?

) Then I put the R&V dressing with a cheapo wax applicator. Works nice, and is quick!
tires before applying sauce (i use to just wash the tires with shampoo)
and now it lasts like 2x longer.
ok, will try that R&V next time onthe arches for sure.
btw, i place an order with DetailersParadise for their NERO and
some MF towels (4pack). will keep you guys posted on how it
turns out.
yep, i have the Rubber Cleaner.

i need to post an updated pict of my Griot's cart. i got so much more
stuff now than a month or so ago.
I need to start throwing out the off-the-shelf junk i have
remaining to make more room for Griots and Prima goodies.
this low-end crap i have should not even be in our garages!
i guess i'll use up the cheezy detailer spray on my commuters to
remove bird crap.
im not buying this off-the-shelf stuffany more. it's Griot and DP from now on.
Wheres Heather? Is DP going to have a cataloge in print? Those things seem to get me in trouble because where ever I go they are laying around. When I pick them up I thumb thought it. Before I know whats going on, I am on the phone giving Griots my check card number....
Oh well.
Oh well.
Of course, now that I'm about to try the Prima stuff, I might end up spoiled forever, like you guys. Maybe I should wear non-porous gloves - it sounds like they may put liquid crack into high-end detailing products from the addictive tendencies that you guys seem to exhibit.
Eh. I like the Meguiar's stuff I've used so far - no complaints. that might just be my ig'nance talking, though.

How do you teeth look - shinny and slick?
dang it, im jealous!
can't wait to get mine (wait, i already said thatlike 5x already).
The next step for your seals is a light dusting of talc or baby powder. Moist seals tend to stick to glass or paint. Over time, the sticking can be detrimental to the seals. Apply the dressing and wipe dry w/ a microfiber. Sprinkle a bit of talc on a microfiber and wipe over the seals so they won't stick to the sealing surface. I do this once a year in the spring.
