re-glazing?
re-glazing?
I detailed my MiniS recently, first washing with Dawn dishwashing liquid to remove old wax, then Ultra Fine Sonus clay, followed by another washing, followed by Klasse All-In-One, followed by Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze. I'm really happy with the results. Here's the question: After I wash my car again, and follow with Sonus Detailing Spritz, can I use the Klasse Glaze again to build up the coats of glaze, or do I have to use the All-In-One first?
This forum has been really helpful to me, and the advice about applying the glaze whisper thin is really key. Again, thanks. Rick

im not familiar with kasse products but im assuming the all-in-one is a
paintprep type detergent.
if you're using the same wax as last time, you don't really need to
remove the old stuff. i remove the old wax before using
polishers as it's more efficient for the polish and pad... plus
less dust from the old wax.

I've been using the Klasse twins for a while - great stuff and you do not want to use the all-in-one again for layering - it will simply remove the existing, thin coat of glaze. What has worked well for me is to detail the car thoroughly - wash, clay, all-in-one and then the SG. Then after the next wash (NOT Dawn, but a good wash solution meant for your car), you can put another, thin coat of SG down.
Thanks for the advice. I had a feeling that was the proper approach to take. I'm using Sonis Gloss shampoo for subsequent washings; I only used the Dawn to remove the old wax. Yeah, I love the Klasse products. What do you use on your interior? I used Sonus Cockpit Detailer on all surfaces since the interior of the Mini doesn't have actual leather, it's leatherette. Any advice for the wheels? Do you purchase your products at Autopia?
For interior i only use those meguiar's interior wipes and a interior duster...
otherwise, just mild soap solution in warm water (in spray bottle) and a
terry towel.
For inner windows, i use Griot's WindowCleaner. good stuff, no scent,
no streaks.
works much better than Windex.
For wheels, i only use car shampoo and a boar's hair brush. otherwise,
if it's only brake dust i use soft paper towels and Speedshine to clean
it up. has a nice coat of wax on it so lifts up easily without scrubbing.
i was kind of nervious to use paper towels on wheels, but been doing it
this way for the last 7-8 yrs without sign of any accelerated wear or
visible swirls in the finish. my wheels are clearcoated.
