He washed then rinsed in a clean water bucket then shot the brush with a stream from the hose before going back for more soap. If you buy a set of grit guards or steal your wifes colanders your finish will be better for it.
Once you've got a bunch of swirls it isn't cheap to hire an expert to remove them. Probably much more that the cost of a couple of grit guards. As for buckets, just stop at any construction site & pick up some discarded drywall mud buckets. Clean them out & there you go free 5 gallon buckets. Just my .02 here.
Thanks for posting the video.

I know I'll get a grit guard sooner or later... I'm just a cheapskate.
That said, if I ever buy a $60 bucket, I guess I deserve to be fleeced.

It really doesn't take much grit to bite.Your car deserves to be fleeced with a washmit.

I have the autopia version of the bucket with grit guard. The price is shocking, but when you get it, it really feels like a $75 bucket, or as I said elsewhere, a five dollar shake. Actually it's that really nice spinning lid that really makes it feel nice!
And in defense, I bet you can get the grit guard for less than 10 bucks, and piece all the ingrediences of the set together yourself for decently less. But the whole thing sure is a nice package.

Since you're a NAM member, I'll sell it to you for the low, low price of $900. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! Order now, and I'll throw in a SECOND BUCKET absolutely free! That's right! Not one, but TWO "shiny-making" Mini buckets, two grit guards, all painted shiny gold for the price of ONE!
Look for a PM with instructions on where to send your payment (no personal checks, please)...

I use the two-bucket method for my MINI, and I'm wondering -- would the grit guard really help much if I'm already using two buckets? Doesn't the grit get rinsed out of the sponge or wash mit into the rinse bucket, before I fill it up again from the soapy bucket?
Besides, what does the grit guard provide that you don't get by simply refraining from reaching to the bottom of the bucket when you rinse or dip for soap?

Had some time to do a quick wash on my MINI yesterday. Just thought I'd show it nice and clean with my new wheels.
First full wash since we shot the video which was about 3 weeks prior to when it was announced here on NAM. Haven't waxed it in atleast 6weeks. It is my 3 year old daily driver with 64,000 miles on it. I'd say it's still looking pretty good!

From earlier in the day, check out the reflection off the side near my boot! Same reflection as my glass!

Washed with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash soap and dried with microfiber drying towel.

I'll put that on the wish list.
What part interests you the most about the foam gun?
I've read some decent threads on them over at Meguiarsonline.com when I first began experimenting with the foaming option on my Karcher Pressure Washer.

I currently, have the simple green foam gun and use it spray an extra layer of soap on the car as I wash the car..
Although, over on Autopia I have read posts by Accumulator. He uses his foam gun with his wash mitt in the foam gun.. It is an ultra safe way of washing the paint.. Most here would never use.. But I would love to see someone perform this.. He is able to wash his paint with no abrasion!!

This video is great--thank you for posting it!
I've actually never washed a car before, and just bought my first MINI (got it this week!). It's the first car I've ever chosen for myself and the first new car I've ever had. I want to take good care of it, but before visiting this forum had no idea how. I've learned a lot about products on this forum, but nothing beats a video for learning technique. My MINI thanks you!

I went to the site and didn't find any video...is it still there?
OctaneGuy...keep hearing about a two-bucket method but can't find any details. I assume one for soap and one for rinse but I'm guessing.
If I'm right, I'll repeat the other guy's question...do you need a grit guard in both? Or just the rinse bucket? Because if rinsed right how would grit get back in the soap bucket?
