What is a degreaser?

I am about to apply the bumper protection strip on the back of El Kabong. The directions say to clean with a degreaser first. So I've just claybarred the entire car, would that qualify or is there a common household product I can use, like rubbing alcohol or something?

use dish wasking detergent

Just use dish washing detergent mixed with water. be sure to rince well to get all the soap off and don't touch the area after you clean it if you can avoid it.

One example http://consumer.simplegreen.com/cons_prod_pro.php

Alcohol is not a degreaser ... more like trichloroethylene is but nasty stuff.

make sure it's dry

ps make sure it is totally dry and there isn't water in any seams that will run onto the bumeper when your pressing the protector on.

And, after you install your bumper strip, re-wax the painted part of the bumper because the dish washing liquid will remove all the wax. Good project, post a pic of the finished job!

Yeah, I was in a quandry what order to do stuff. I just claybarred and did 2 coats of Zaino and now need to do the protector. I didn't want to get Zaino on the protector so thought I should do it last.

Did you complete the install? Post some pics! I've been considering adding this part to my MCS.

i always have a can of these RC car motor spray (or nitro cleaner) in
my garage when I need to degrease. it's a great spray to clean off
funnels and tools too after changing your oil.
