Dusting and static

Hey all, did a search and didn't get an answer, so:
Anyone noticed that the California-type car duster creates a pretty hefty static electricity charge? Maybe it's just the ultra-low humidity, but while dusting today (black MINI= daily dusting) I noticed that the fibers on the duster were trying to attack my jeans! And not doing a real great job of picking up the dust. Is there a way to get the duster to release the charge? Time to get a new one?

Hmmm, I've never noticed a static charge on a duster. Maybe humidity is a factor as you say.

I have been using the same California duster for over a year & it still works great but I live in Alabama & we have plenty of humidity so maybe that's what makes the difference. It's nice to know humidity is good for something

lately I read a tip in my Real Simple mag that you can rub a metal hanger on things with static to help calm them down. see if that helps

Static is a big part of how a duster works. I'm sure there will be a lot more in low humidity or colder weather. If you want to discharge it, touch it to some piece of grounded metal.
