Dirt on Plastic Trim!!

It was raining and i had the oppertunity to go out onto a track, while it is all great, my trim and paint took a serious toll...

after a good wash, the car is clean, but my trim remains to have tons of dirt stuck on... i tried to remove them with a wheel brush and water, but without much sucess

anyone care to help?

how does the peanut butter thing work anyways... my trim is getting pretty sad state and i need to re-apply some dressing to it soon.... i want to take it out next time... ive heard of forever black which will just dye it black, but i'd prefer somethin that i can do before i resort to that

Just a quick tip for ya, and this works equally well on the plastic trim as it does on any chrome and stubborn bugs. The Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser is a pretty good tool. I suggest using it as instructed, but use this before you wash your car, as it tends to leave little bits of itself. Usually takes two full passes to clean the trim, but it works really well. Good luck!

Replacing the trim will probably ultimately cost less than the numerous products that will "fix" it, and replacement parts will (obviously) look newer. I just replaced one piece of wheel-trim for $10, and will probably replace the trim over the back wheels in the next couple of weeks.

You could even keep 2 sets: one for Winter, the other for the nice seasons.

That stuff does get marred easily, doesn't it?

If I'm not mistaken, the peanut butter and/or alcohol cleanings of the trim are to remove wax residue that was mistakenly applied to porous plastic, not as a general cleaning tool.

Why not just take the chance to have the trim sanded and painted body color?

is the plastic trim hard to take apart? i thought about doin color coding but i like the way the black plays on the white roof and the dark silver for my car... im thinkin even getting black wheels to replace my silver ones when my tires go so painting trim is not the good idea...

i like the 'keep 2 set' idea.. is it hard to change out and change in?
