Z2, Z5 and a PC??

I am brand new to this great site and I am considering purchasing a PC 7424 polisher with Sonus SFX pad kit to apply and remove Z5 & Z2. Zaino is not real clear if there is any benifit over hand application. I have some light spider webs on a clearcoated dark blue gray car and did not have much luck removing all of them with a couple of hand applications of Z5. Any thoughts or advice from any of you experts!

No, there is no benefit in applying Zaino by PC vs Hand. There are no abrasives in Zaino at all. Z2 is optically clear. What you see on your paint is exactly what you will get. (only slicker and glossier, of course) Z5 has some fillers in it which will aid in disguising small swirls and mars in the paint. It does NOT remove them. If two coats of Z5 do not hide the defects then they will not be hidden by the Z5 and must be permanently "REMOVED" by a polish product with an abrasive in it.

I generally apply my Zaino by hand because it goes on so fast anyway and I waste much less product. And removal of Zaino is far easier than most sealants and carnaubas. Almost no residue at all. I never use a buffer. Definitely less bother to do it by hand.

Ditto!

The amount of time you save by using the polisher is probably lost by the time it takes to get the PCDA off the shelf, run the extension cord and plug it in.

The PCDA is excellent, though, for a polishing (true polishing with a paintwork polish or cleanser) just before applying Zaino.

Thanks much for the response....what do you recommend for polish under Z5 & Z2 to get rid of the light Spiderwebs on a clearcoated Titianum colored car? Being a newbie to detailing with a PC and I am concerned that I will mess up the paint job if I use a real abrasive polish.

Do I need to strip off all the Z5 and Z2 before appling the abasive polish? If so will Dawn work?

Would you put the polish on, then Z5 topped by Z2?

Sorry for the questions...

Thanks!

Dawn will strip simple carnauba waxes but not a good polymer like Zaino. A wipe in Alcohol will remove Zaino. But don't worry about it because you will need to buff the car with an abrasive/swirl remover to remove the spiderwebbing and that will remove the Zaino also.

There are a lot of options for a swirl remover. If the swirls are light I would suggest Sonus Enhance as an option. The more I use it the more I like it. One of the very best swirl removers is 3M Swirl Remover.

Just polish this on top of the existing Zaino finish. It will remove the Zaino, get down and fix the paint defects and then you should wash the car again, and start the Z5/Z2 process again. I assume you are familiar with doing that.
