My detailed detailing process
This thread made it into the dbmini.us podcast 5.5!

These guys are hilarious, and cover a nice broad set of MINI topics.
They fall into the NXT camp and are a bit mis-informed on the time it takes to Zaino . (It isn't that long guys... really... you do 90% of the steps when you are applying NXT... you just haven't stopped to document it
Thanks for the spot in the cast. I feel special!

If anyone is interested in seeing the Zaino in action, here are some links to photos I took of my wife's dark metallic blue Nissan Murano.
These were taken after a wash, a clay-bar, a second quick wash, a coat of Z-5 and 2 coats of Z2. For all of you Zaino-haters out there who think the Zaino process takes a long time (you know who you are
<cough>db<cough>todd<cough>
), I did all of the work on the same day, by myself, and still had time to shoot these pictures with the sun high in the sky for good, shadow-laden pictures.

I think agranger's instructions just look really daunting. Perhaps it's time for a little updating (and a couple of steps are copy-paste repeats)...
I'll take pictures later today, but everyone at the office is amazed.
I've never seen any need to polish the sides... even on my daily driver w/ 85k miles on it. I clay-bar all the glass fairly regularly and apply Zaino (Z2 only) to the glass when I put a coat on the paintwork... as often as possible.
PS: As BradB suggests above, Zaino Z6 QD spray does wonders on Zaino'd glass... The shine is incredible.

tips for those with bonnet/boot stripes...
I'm sure that there is some other thread that addresses this but I was just wondering if there are any tips for those mini-owners who have bonnet/boot stripes? Specifically, should you be waxing from the center of the stripes out or does it matter?

Zaino Wackos
I have a friend who is a Neurosurgeon. He was swamped with evaluations for whiplash victims. The paperwork, and poor outcomes ( due to secondary gains, legal issues) drove him nuts. To discourage these consultations, he doubledd his fee. Guess what! His referrals tripled. The lawyers figured if he charged 3 times anybody else in Indianapolis he must be the best. This reminds me of the Zaino craze. Spend your money suckers!
If your friend could be independently tested and proven to be better than the other neurosurgeons in the area, I'd be willing to pay for the best... just like I do for Zaino. If his work lasted 2 to 3 times longer than other surgeons (or got me back on my feet more quickly), I'd also pony up the cash... just like I do for Zaino. If his work drew as many positive comments (better for a plastic surgeon) as my Zaino does, I'd probably pay the higher price as well.

It makes me laugh that people think Zaino is expensive. Just pro-rate the durability factor alone and you will see it is a better value than ANY carnauba and most sealants. But that isn't my point...
I have multiple cars and use different waxes/sealants to keep things interesting. And I have scores of other waxes in the cabinet that I have used, tested and evaluated. Zaino is my favorite but I don't put down other people who don't use it or haven't tried it. And I don't put down other waxes/sealants that other people use. But I can site differences/facts because I more than likely have experienced it.
It's sad that some people attack others without cause, justification or even the hint of decency.
The bottle of Zaino wax has a relatively high price tag. However, it is applied so sparingly, using so little product, that one bottle will outlast several bottles of the other brands. If properly applied, it is almost invisible, and it is easy to lose your place if you do not work systematically around the car.
Additionally, it goes on so thin without requiring any "elbow grease" or hard rubbing into the surface, and the residue is simply wiped off with a gentle pass of your buffing towel. This saves a vast amount of time versus carnauba wax and other products. What's the price tag on your investment of time?
Lastly, the durability of Zaino, it's inter-compatibility with the rest of its line, and its ability to add additional layers at any time without re-stripping the vehicle allow you to perpetuate your wax job for a long, long time without consuming lots of product, making Zaino outlast the so-called "less expensive" products.
If you pay less for the bottle but have to use up more of the product, take more time, and repeat the process more often, is the product any cheaper?
