Chrome stain

there's some weird black build up on my tailpipe. Not sure what it is, but need solution to get it off. Any ideas? I've only had it for about a week, so it's not that built up, but tried using some turtle wax chrome polish, but that didn't work. Maybe i just needed more elbow grease?

um...is it deposits from combustion? The MINI engine runs a bit rich, so you'll see traces of combustion on the exhaust pipes. I scrub hard to remove it, and then use some chrome/metal polish on it. That usually makes it easier to clean. I think I explained it right?

seems so. I'll try scrubbing it harder to see what the results are.

I keep a tin of NeverDull wadding handy and wipe off the tail pipes weekly. It's fast and easy.

Get it at AutoZone, WalMart, etc. $4.

but I wasn't able to get all of it. I'm going to try to get the Never dull stuff.

That soot on the tailpipe is normal, mataku. Meguiar's makes a great product, "Gold Class All Metal Restorer," which will easily remove the soot. Very affordable and a very good product! Give it a try!

Thanks for the recommendation (note the video on their site as well). I'll try anything at that price even if I don't need it! :D I'll pick some up for my tailpipes and driving lights the next time I go grocery shopping for my MINI. :D

No applicator needed. Just grab a small wad out of the can and rub directly on the chrome.

It get's your fingers dirty but what the heck..it works!
