Blackout belt tape? Rattle can? Plastic dip?
So I have been in the process of blacking out my mini for a while now. Well, I've hit the chrome belt line. I've seen the belt line tape & I was wondering, has anyone resorted to a rattle can for this? Plastic dip? What's worked best? I only want to do this ONCE, if I can help it! Thanks guys!
Also, I REALLY want to prevent a tacky, cheap look!

I love Plasti-dip, but not for the Beltline. Just order the correct roll size for your generation and the matte finish matches the black rubber near perfect. I have had it on my GP2 and my old R53 for 2 years and about 120 car washes. Just go slow and down stretch the Viynl, and it will look factory

Where's
I want to order some tape to black out my beltline. Where? Who? Probably the same width size for all Minis. Give up the info please.

I've been lazy and busy but I'll go down right now and put on a piece just for you. Hold on . . .
just did the door. works great! watch for bubbles. got a few. micro. oh well. work on the other door next month hahaha
it stretches. I think you should only release the backing as you go. Not pull it off all at once. But it is way way better than 3M electrical 88 tape. Way better. Just go slow and knead out the bubbles as you lay it down. It's not perma stick so you can pull it back off and restart but shouldn't do that a lot. It's real vinyl. Not plastic tape. Good luck!

Yeah it took as long as it took to warm up the BBQ when I did it. hahaha Don't cut the width. They did that. Just lay it down straight and slow and keep kneading the tape from bubbles. Use the upper edge of the chrome as your guide. Hold the tape out straight but only use one piece at a time. Cut it in pieces to match the length that you're laying as oppose to just feeding it off the roll. You can handle it easier. Read my above that I added.

I blacked out the beltline with Super 88 six years after reading numerous reviews and it has been more than durable. Very easy to apply and replace if required. And to top it off it is very cost effective and readily available. IMO it is a viable alternative.
