I have the autobahn shield (clear bar) installed on my Pepper White. I noticed a black dirt line around the edges . The local installer said its normal and shows more on the pepper white. Is this true? They said to use glass cleaner to clean the edges. I'm worried I may etch the paint. What would be the best way to clean this up?

 

I just cleaned ours with 70% rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth, then cleaned the surface and rewaxed. Good luck.

 

If you can't find a microfiber cloth thin enough to be effective, then use a q-tip but do not press down on it very firmly.

Yes, it's normal and yes, it shows up more on light colors.

 

I spoke with the guy again. They are going to replace the kit. There is dirt under the edges and there is no way to clean it off even though he had said it was normal. I can see the edges collecting dirt however this is under the shield. A couple edges are peeling up and I already had the bottom repaired... in which he left dirt under.

Apparently the install guy has very low quality standards. He blamed it on the dealer not cleaning the car... why would you install it on a dirty car? Car was clean however and dirt got under the edges so thats moot.

Anywho thank you for the help. When the edges get dirty next I'll clean it up with your help. Can't clean dirt thats under the film.
