My lst detail on my mini cooper S

I decided to detail my car yesterday. I almost quit as it was very physically
exhausting. I used all the Mequiar products and visited the Meguiar online forum for help.

The car looks terrific but I doubt I will ever detail again. The cleaning process with SwirlX was the hardest part. Claying was fun.

I have never brought my car to a car wash nor have I ever waxed it before. Before detailing, I would wash my car every week to 3 weeks.

The clay work got alot of contaminants off my car. Every time I finished claying an area, i had to remold the clay for a clean area.

Using SwirlX on your MINI is NOT Detailing!! Especially since your MINI should not have that many Swirl marks, try looking @ Griot's Garage site for great products that are also very easy to use!!

There are lots of great products out there, Meguiar's is one of them.
How about some pics of your results?

It certainly can be labor intensive, but I enjoy the time outside and with the car. I find it relaxing and a great way to spend a lazy weekend morning.

Hopefully you liked the results and let us know if you want some tips to hopefully make it more enjoyable next time.

Couldnt agree with you more...

I detail as a release for every day stress. Any cause and effect mod is a stress releiver for that matter, whether it be cleaning or performance etc etc...

I detail because I'm only going to complain if I let anyone else do it. So why go through the aggravation.............well that and my wife seems to prefer it when I spend more time in the garage

I think anyone with OCD cleans to relax. I know I do. When I first got my Mini I waxed probably 5 to 7 times a month. I have backed off and only wax it twice a month now. I wash it one to two times a week. I know I need a life the brake dust drive me CRAZY! I am in the midst of doing an upgrade. I will be installing EBC Green pads just for the lack of brake dust. Hey I'm not hurting everyone and I always have a clean ride.

I love EBC pads. I suggest going to the reds though for the better stopping power and the lower dust from the ceramic pads. The Greens are organic material and still dust quite a bit (but less than stock).

I read that the Red EBC pads are to aggressive for street use. I do not track my Mini. I may be wrong.

I never had that problem with mine. The Yellow Stuff and Blue Stuff pads definitely are too much, but many decent pads are full ceramic just like the Red Stuff.
